Preamps for dummies that would be me
Z.., Forgive me my horrible arithmetics, even 1:10 is good enough. The so-far called "conditioning" of the sound might(or might not) apply to "restoring" the sound after feedback on the source components. Certainly I should've placed it in quotes s...
Cassette deck head wear
1. Don't use Metal tapes With metal tapes the head wears out 3x faster than with regular Type 1 ESPECIALLY on Nak decks. 2. I don't know the precise hours but with Metal tapes you can wear it out within probably 1.5years or roughly saying 5...6000...
Relationship between McCormack and CJ?
It's the same manufacturer.
Preamps for dummies that would be me
Just of the tech experience I can add the following:Any preamp that is using variable electronic or op-amp feedback with bi-polar high-gain output stage will certainly deplete and compress the sound drastically. The sound change is very similar to...
Nick Cave fans?
I used to listen to him but I almost forgot all his albums since it was a long time ago.I'd probably come back to listening to him again very soon or even I'd grab some record collection if for the descent price.
Preamps for dummies that would be me
In fact, it's all about the system's integrity.Yes, basically the active preamp is designed not to only bring the signal to the line level but to restore drastically compressed and feedbacked output of the cheap CD-player with bi-polar output stag...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
I have a list of guitarist that have lots in common and I want someone's PO on which one is the best from that list. Certainly the above mentioned by me Akkerman is better but still I want to hear from other people...Here is the list:Larry Corryel...
Music for "Tough Times"
Today I had a tough hangover. Tough time isn't it? But Irmin Schmidt's "Impossible Holidays" CD made me feel much easier while I was heading to work.
SS Pre-amp -Tubed Amp. Does it make sense?
It's even more make a sence than having otherwise. Low output impedance of SS preamp is more likely to match with high input impedance of the tube poweramps rather than matching high output impedance of the tube pre with low input impedance of the...
popping sound
for now don't turn it off and keep it always running. thus you'll probably save your speakers from "nervous" and powerful popin' beast until you resolve the problem with Krell. If you want to do it yourself you'll probably need a multi-meter, cap-t...
Unknown Tonearm
Joel,Why do you feel you need to change existing Scorpio tonearm?
How much to spend to beat $1200 10yr old speakers?
If you loved Medowlarks than they more-likely will do the great job in your system v.s. your old Kefs and also v.s. Quads.
Lazarus tube preamp noise ....
The other alternate solution is to increase the negative feedback that will decrease the sencitivity and the noise level. You can experiment with bread-board having different values of resistor and capacitor in parallel. try from 200K/150pf to go ...
Willing to be proved wrong.
what is the rest of your electronics?if you want to have an analogue along with your today's digital you might come to the conclusion spending at least $600 to bring up the sound to the descent level. You can get Thorens TD160/SME3010/Shure V15vxmr...
How dose your plinth sound?
My Michell has an aluminium plinth standing on plexiglass spider and weighed with lead masked with plastic for safety purposes. I placed an adjustable toes onto Walker disks also loaded with lead that dissipate even more of parasite resonance.Over...
