Acoustic Progressive Rock
From what I have read and heard, there is very little acoustic stuff. Lots of it is more jazz than anything else. I have not heard the Strawbs, but I will give it a check. I would love something by King Crimson, Dream Theater, maybe acoustic Pink ...
MJ Acoustics Subwoofers v. REL.
Anybody have a link for MJ Acoustics where I can find more details?
Does a subwoofer amplifer exist?
Wow, these amps aren't cheap. Why are they so much more expensive than a subwoofer amp plate? The Outlaw amp has a good price; however, I would still need to get a crossover, possibly the Paradigm unit I see on Audiogon on ocassion.

Thanks, good references.
Anyone have experience with "Signal Cable" Cables?
You can't miss with Signal Cables. I own a bunch of them.
Jazz Recommendations.
The more I think about it, turning on someone to jazz is more of a personal choice on the listener's part. It's like forcing someone to quit smoking, or going on a diet. Expanding your mind to something new is hard to do when you don't want to do ...
Jazz Recommendations.
I would choose something from Miles Davis to start them off. If they come from an easy listening type of background, I might have them start with Kind of Blue. You can't miss there. If they come from a rock and roll kind of background, I might sta...
Any Bob fans out there?
I bought a used copy of The Last Dog & Pony Show last night. So far, one listen, but I can see how this guy can grow on you.
Any Bob fans out there?
Never heard of this guy, where have I been? So, for a guy interested in checking this guy out for the first time, what would you guys recommend? I checked out reviews on Amazon and it seems everything he does is magic. What is a good starting point?
Subwoofer in the corner? Forget about it
In the last few months I have abandoned placing subwoofers in any corner. Currently, my subwoofer is actually placed BEHIND my listening chair and crossed over as low as it will go. I guess that since low frequencies are non-directional, the botto...
Is a down-firing sub into carpet OK?
Thanks for the heads up.
Does a listening room help or hinder?
Newbee may be right. However, I don't need new music. I have a stack of brand new, still sealed CDs and new LPs that haven't been heard.
Does a listening room help or hinder?
Good thoughts. One thing I didn't point out was that one of the minor reasons to move the computer out of the listening room was so that I wouldn't work so much. Every time I wanted to listen to some music, I would end up turning the computer on a...
Permanently sealing a vented subwoofer??
I thought about just plugging the vent, but doesn't the actual, physical tube inside the subwoofer affect the souhd in some way? Won't completely removing the tube and not just plugging the tube do something? Will plugging the vent or removing the...
SVS and Electrostatics
The REL Strata would make alot of us happy, especially if REL still made the Strata. The used market on Rel Strats subs has dried out for the moment.
