| the perfect tonearm as fate would have it, I have an Orsonic Headshell on my Audiocraft AC300 arm. I guess this would mate nicely with a FR arm eh? | |
| Any Zorn fans? The Big Gundown is my favourite! | |
| the perfect tonearm Musicfile, yes the FR64fx is definitely on my list. If you ever see one available, please let me know! Thanks Pat. | |
| the perfect tonearm huh?? now back to our regular programming. | |
| Dynavector 20XL tonight I noticed that there is "distortion" coming from my 20xl during loud passages when it gets close to the end of the record. It seems find at the beginning of the record, could it be tracking error? | |
| the perfect tonearm so lots of good choices here it seems....FR 64fx, Lustre GST 801, Micro Seiki 505, Graham 2.2, Triplanar and IT245. Raul, I noticed you posted in in earlier thread about the Lustre with a XV1s, to clarify did you say it sounded good with the XV1s? | |
| the perfect tonearm Jcarr, yes the FR 64fx does sound and look interesting. I haven't decided on a cart yet, but I'm interested in the Soundsmith Aida which is low compliance. Would it work well with low compliance carts? Is the IT245 comparable to the 64fx in terms ... | |
| Jelco Tone Arms 9 and 12 inch these Jelco arms certainly look appealing. Does anyone know if they're easy to adjust, particularly the VTA? | |
| Dynavector 20XL I have a 20XL and used to hear this type of noise in the louder passages of records. I adjusted the anti-skating and it seems to have gone away. Give it a try. | |
| Edgy Trip Hop Recommendations In addition to the above suggestions, I would also recommend Lamb, Hooverphonic, Olive, STS9, and my current favourite, The Cinematic Orchestra. Check out their recent album - Ma Fleur and also Every Day. | |
| Shindo Masseto Tubes and Fuses YG, as you can see most guys think that you shouldn't mess with Shindo gear. But you prolly need to get it out of your system, (no pun intended) so why not try a few tweaks for yourself? Swapping the power cables and using footers are pretty easy,... | |
| Shindo Masseto Tubes and Fuses I've tried a few tweaks (footers, power cords) and found that Shindo gear either sounds worse or is non-responsive to tweaking. Since I'm basically lazy, Shindo gear suits me fine since its essentially a plug and play system with a holistic philos... | |
| Dynavector DV 20X-L -- which MM will better it? I can't recall where its located, but there's another thread on this site comparing the 2M Black to the 20XL and the concensus was that the 2M would be a step down from the 20XL. I'd also recommend Soundsmith. I currently have a 20XL and the Aida ... | |
| Shindo Auriges vs. Cary SLP98 Slaw, I assume you're talking about the Aurieges MM which has a built in MM phono stage(the Aurieges L is only a linestage). I think Plinko was suggesting that you can't compare a full function preamp to a line stage?FWIW, similar to Rchau I also ... | |
| In the Air tonight DRUMS - phil collins on LP I agree with the previous post about getting Seconds Out. Chester and Phil both have an amazing drum solo on Dance on a Volcano/Los Endos. Far superior to In the Air Tonight, IMO. |
