Jolida, to modify or not...
You are going to get replies you definitely should, and if I had heard one, I might be inclined to agree. My past experience has led me to be suspicious of expensive mods. IMO previous mods of older Jolida cd players were a waste of money. A frien...
Which tubed cd player for this system
Docjr8156, Siemens is the better tube. Mullards haze the sound. Also, I have heard things go terribly bad sonically with fancy wires. Having an open mind, though, I hope to hear the Ah! tjoeb some day.
Which tubed cd player for this system
We just did this one a few topics down> "How does the Jolida JD-100 compare to..." Check it out. It's an eye opener.
Jeff Rowland 10 vs. Pass Lab x350?
And I know someone who owned both simultaneously. He preferred the Pass hands down. One must listen to them for themselves.
How does the Jolida JD-100 compare to...
Hi BobI have a friend who recently bought Green Mountain speakers. He is powering them with a Wadia and Levinson. It passes my trusty Leo Kottke test disk with flying colors - almost no do. He auditioned Renault speakers too, and they were great a...
How does the Jolida JD-100 compare to...
I personally much prefer the 5751 tube group than any of the ATX tubes. There is a variety of them available at reasonable cost. One negative, they have a lower output than the ATX tubes by some 25%. Teles will last longer than any. On most speake...
How does the Jolida JD-100 compare to...
Great review, Buxter66. I own the Jolida too, and I agree with your summation. Off the shelf Jolidas sound wonderful. They sound deciedly better, when fitted with YOUR tubes. That is something everyone has too explore for themselves. This isn't the...
CD Players that deliver outstanding vocals
Jolida 100, without a doubt. You can find one for near that price used, $900 new.
Jolida JD100 and JD100A,whats the difference?
Without a doubt, 5751 tubes old stock. They are hard to find, but are relatively inexpensive. I've had much more expensive Telefunken and Mullards on board and the 5751 tubes bested them with greater extension, and detail. The midrange of these tu...
Review: Jolida JD-100 CD Player
As a Jolida 100 owner, I wholly concur with your applause for both machine and vendor; glad to see Bill hasn't lost his touch.
Speaker priority: high or low???
Yes Unsound, the room. I wouldn't have gone the way I did if I hadn't realized I have a great room. I forget that isn't a given understanding.
Speaker priority: high or low???
Nrchy, I have heard $16,000 cd players fronting some unassuming speakers, and a $900 cd player pumping spectacular speakers. Need I tell you which was infinitely better? Most speakers are too dull to transmit the "bit more" of a first rate front en...
Jolida JD100 and JD100A,whats the difference?
Funny, I have a JD 100, and it has an articulate bass that goes very deep. There is no blacker than black. The stock 100 is as smooth as can get without getting boring. Yada yada. There have always been tweak monks when it comes to Jolida. The voi...
Northern California
Woo hoooo! Awesome, Mike! We don't have anything like that up here in Sacramento that I know of...Yet. We have Triangles, Green Mountain, Martin Logan, and more Apogees. I live in the midst of some mighty big houses. Ever think of relocating?
Speaker priority: high or low???
I say speakers. I ran a trainload of electronics through my Boston Acoustics without noticing any real change. The last front end I got for the Bostons was a Sony ES that sounded a lot like the other players that preceded. I got it because over a ...
