What's your dirty little secret?
I still have my original Petula Clark vinyl. "Dowtown", "Color My Wolrd" - yeah baby!I have a soft spot for 60's pop, and that includes the Turtles, Monkey's "Last Train to Clarksville" and lot other stuff.Needless to say, I have all the Nuggets CDs.
Please help- Arcam AVR-300 or B&K AVR507
If a receiver is what you want, I think the Arcam is in another league from the B&K.If music is at all important to you, I'd definitely go for the Arcam. It has the best sound quality - open, dynamic, airy - of any HT receiver I've ever heard....
Music for Riding a Storm Out?
Hey Rhyno, glad to see the worst avoided you.In celebration, how about Peter Gabriel's "Here Comes The Flood"?My critters are family members. When I took them into my family, I also took on the obligation for their well-being. Period.
pre-amp with home theatre pass through
The Herron tubed preamp VTSP-2 and the solid state HL-1 both have HT pass-through.Superb preamps, and very reliable - try the website:httpp://www.herronaudio.com
Music for Riding a Storm Out?
Rhyno...long time no talk. Bet Crumpers isn't sorry to be watching from afar.Good luck, anyway.I agree - not even imminent death or destruction would be enough to make me spin REO Speedwagon. How 'bout Sam& Dave's "Hold On - I'm Coming"?
Best Genesis Album - your opinions please.
Yup, it was fun to there, a very interesting time.Couldn't get to ole Blighty for the reunion, but was very glad to see the WOMAD and Gabriel tours.I also saw Roxy Music's first US tour in Chicago same year - I met a future boyfriend at the gig an...
4 must have hours of baby boomer music?
Maybe you'd better add in some Boston, Early Aerosmith, Queen and Pink Floyd too. I never was a Deadhead but you should have "Truckin'".And don't forget Layla. Can't have a boomer party without Layla.

4 must have hours of baby boomer music?
I'd look for those Rhino compilations and set the player on shuffle. We boomers, as the post-war baby bulge, actually got going with music as early as the late 50's early 60's.For this 52 YO boomer (and BTW, I started really grooving to the music v...
Best Genesis Album - your opinions please.
Selling England By The Pound is still my favorite, although I latched onto this band around the time of Nursery Crimes. I loved parts of Lamb and the others, but I think this Gabriel era recording holds up with the strongest tracks overall.I'll ne...
Does anyone like vintage speakers?
I wasn't as much into the high end in the late 60's and early 70's as I am now. As a student, I just couldn't afford it. I didn't become interested in the high end until the mid 80's, well past the golden age. I was mainly intrigued by Maggies and...
Subwoofer for Magnepan 1.6's
Check out the Nola Thunderbolt, a terrific sub for music and HT. It retails for around $1700, although every once in a while a version one pops up for 1K +/-. The TB doesn't take up a lot of room and is relatively easy to place. It will integrate w...
Changing receiver from Arcam to?
I suggest you audition the Arcam AVR300, which is quite an improvement over the AVR200 (which is a nice enough receiver BTW, but the 300 is in another league altogether - much much better).I have heard the B& K, and owned various Marantzes and...
Arcam AVR 300 need help
First person I would call is the dealer - if you bought from a dealer. The other contact would be the Arcam USA distributor, Audiphile Systems Ltd, in Indianapolis: 317-849-7103/317-841-4111. I've always had very good tech support from these guys, ...
What are the best CD Player around $3500?
This is such a personal thing...for example, I did not care for the Resolution Audio Opus 21 at all, but I quite liked the Ayre and the Cary 303/300. The Ikemi didn't do it in my system either but many people love theirs.A lot depends on the gear,...
