Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
I wouldn't recommend any cartridge to anyone unless they had a properly matched tonearm. In fact, it's borderline irresponsible to post what mounts to a negative review of a product based on improper use.
Denon DL-103 -- Was it a mistake?
No way a properly set up, sound DL103 is either bright unmusical. Something is amiss. Your impressions are the exact opposite of what the DL103 is known for, and what I've experienced for sure.
How to make sound less detailed with warmth?
Yeah, well my CS2 2's sound great, and not hard, sharp, fatiguing, or any of that. But then, I've heard they are an exception to the tendency among Thiels.
Amp shut down and protection circuit
It does it when not connected to anything at all. Plug in, turn on, protect light flicker, and no power up.
'they blew'em off the stage'
Montejay -- I also witnesses Geils open for Frampton in '77 (in Miami), and yes, they blew Frampton away.
Stunning Harpsichord Recording
Ralph Kirkpatrick's Goldberg Variations on Archive.
'they blew'em off the stage'
I meant Bob Seger, not Seeger (obviously).
Help Me Justify Recent MMF7 purchase
hey man, set it up right, but don't be too anal, feed it some good tunes, and enjoy it. "Did I get the best I could have?" is a terrible question with which to start out a relationship with a turntable, or anything else, for that matter. And don't...

Lonely voice, so far.
'they blew'em off the stage'
Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band (the tour their "Live Bullet" came from), opening for the Doobie Brothers, maybe 1976.

Lewm: I just didn't want to leave intact the impression I was suggesting anything fishy on Jean's part. Gadfly: Does anyone welcome your interjections?

I said: "I've no idea whether Jean is at all guilty of this"So you should not have said "Jean does propose his hypotheses as facts, without having done the experiments necessary to prove the hypotheses, as you also suggest".And FWIW, and it's wort...

It's not bad science to invent an hypothesis to suit your observations. Of course that's what one does. But it is bad science (and an abuse of common sense) to do so without bothering to learn about the mechanisms at play in and around the phenome...
Good speakers for a low budget
Yes obviously get rid of that CDP. maybe both it and the amp. The alpha's are probably her strongest link.
Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in
I've got Camber 3s, large front ported two way (8" woofer, silk dome tweeter) standmounters by a Canadian company in Ottawa, that were badged "Rega" before Rega started making their own speakers. They are maybe from 1980, and sound wonderful. I go...
