| Anyone heard Ubiq Model One? Yes I've heard them. The treble is not harsh, quite the opposite in fact. I found their overall sound quite soft. They didn't hit the mark for me. | |
| Speaker thoughts - ProAc D40R or Wilson Benesch Milpai, the amps my dealer often uses with 48R's are the VTL tube stereo power amps. But they are pricey and on this occasion he used a Prima Luna Dialogue HP power amp fitted with KT88 tubes. Surprisingly perhaps, the bottom end was fine, with ... | |
| Speaker thoughts - ProAc D40R or Wilson Benesch A late post. I have just auditioned the Proac D48R's. They are a fine speaker for enjoying music and one of the best floorstanders I have heard. Over the last 2 years, I have auditioned quite a number of speakers, of highish and medium efficiency,... | |
| Tannoy Prestige or Living Voice I've heard both. For me, the choice would be Tannoy Kensington hands down, on the basis that they are driven with a good quality valve amp. More body and punch, better bass, more dynamic, a bigger soundstage and more engaging to my ears for the ty... | |
| Usher S-520 amp Usher S520's are not a particularly bright sounding speaker IMO. My suggestion is that your issue lies elsewhere. I'm currently driving mine with a Yarland 40 watt valve amp and they sound amazingly good given their price level. | |
| shindo aurieges .... I'm a late contributor to this thread. Bolero, I have compared my Shindo Aurieges L to an EAR 868 with 2 friends present. We all agreed the Aurieges was convincingly better sounding and more alive than the EAR 868. The difference was almost immedi... | |
| DeVore Orangutan O/96 I have to echo Jeff's comments. I have been listening to a lot of different speakers (and amps) this year in the search for a combo that works well for me. I am impressed with the O96's, especially with quality valve amps. Yesterday I heard them d... | |
| USA v England--Aerial Acoustics 7T v. ProAc D40R I have auditioned both speakers, but not at the same time & in the same room & in the same system. However, without doing a direct A/B, I'd go for the ProAc's. I found the Aerial's a bit lean in the mid to upper bass. My impression is that... | |
| ProAc D40?? You have to be very careful about leaping to conclusions on new ProAc's. They need A LOT of running in. | |
| Pass xa 100.5 vs Musical Fidelity AMS100 An interesting thread. I own a Shindo Aurieges/Pass XA30.5 combo. FWIW, I compared the EAR 868 to my Aurieges, and in my system, to my ear, I much preferred the Shindo. More life, more musically involving. Re power amps - another option to conside... | |
| ProAc Response 2.5 / D25 / D28's with tube amp I auditioned the D28's with several different amps (Class A solid state and tube). They sounded their best with a reasonably powerful valve amp on the 8 ohm tap (they are an 8 ohm speaker) - this is when they sang and the soundstage opened up. Ver... | |
| EAR 868 vs VTL 5.5 II In my experience, in my system (via Pass Labs XA30.5 power amp), the Shindo Aurieges is superior to both these preamps for less money. | |
| Rega P9 vs Musical Fidelity M1 Hba, can I ask what tonearm your friend is using on his Kuzma Reference? | |
| Questions about and source for Kuzma Reference tt Hi Lewn,I stumbled across this thread. I see you have not purchased a Kuzma Stabi Reference turntable and I am curious to know what conclusions you reached about it. Thanks. | |
| Anyone heard Nuforce Reference 18's I upgraded from the Nuforce Ref 9 V3se's to the Ref 18's. I have since changed to the Pass Labs XA30.5 which I regard as superior to both the Nuforces in my system (I have Sonus Faber Cremona M's). |
