Class A multi-channel amp?
While not multichannel amp, the small class A Monarchy Audio mono's fit the bill and could be had new or used at around the same price as you would find a large multichannel class A for. Heck, you can spread the extra heat around this way. Dave

Krell Ksa power amps
I had mine in about a year ago, Hiend is very close on the price. It cost me $409..Krell told me I would be good for about 10 years. I thought the price was more than fair, it was the shipping ($155) each way that was killer.Dave 
Center channel

HDTV/5.1 Question
You will need to use the analog outs to your AR pre-amp I think. Your DAC has no decoder and as you stated you have no DD/DTS receiver with digital input.Dave

I have read that many owners think the build quality of this unit is not up to price level. Your bright sound does not fit in with any owner reviews I have read at Audio Asylum forum, you may want to do a search on that forum. Dave
