With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
I went KEF Reference 5 when looking in this price range.
Preamp w Phono and Headphone Jack
You can stick with the JC theme and get a Parasound Halo P5 for around $1100 new.  Has everything you want plus a decent DAC.
Job Integrated Amp.
Very interested in continuing to read feedback on the INT.  Looks promising to use for a bedroom setup paired with my ModWright Oppo 105.
Choosing a Good Phono Pre for a Rega RP-1 with a Denon DL-110.
Congratulations on the ARC.  That should serve you very well and give you a lot of flexibility when you upgrade your table in the future.
Choosing a Good Phono Pre for a Rega RP-1 with a Denon DL-110.
The Lehmann is very nice.  Between $1 - $2k you have a very wide range of choices depending on your taste.  I think that this might be the most competitive price range in the phono pre market.  For alternatives to consider, the EAR 834P is very we...
Hegel H300 and B&W 803 Diamond
The H300 has a pre-out, so you can definitely use it as a pre amp.  If you like the sound stage as an integrated, you will most likely enjoy it as a pre-amp as well since the only thing you are doing is bypassing the internal amp.  Since you alrea...
solid state gear- leave on?
It's been 11 years since this thread was started, so it would be interesting to hear how each side of the debate made out. Like stringreen, my system goes into standby mode when powered off (but main power switch in back still on) to keep it war...

Universal Players vs. Dedicated CD/SACD Players
Congratulations on the Cipher and smokin' deal, dave_b.  I look forward to getting updates as you break it in.
Integrated decision - dartzeel or gryphon
I’ve heard great integrated amps from Simaudio, MBL, Jeff Rowland, Vitus and Audia Flight. This is by no means a complete list of great integrateds, but they are worth a listen if you are looking to buy a Dartzeel. I’d love to hear a Gryphon, but ...
Integrated decision - dartzeel or gryphon
I have not had a chance to hear the Gryphon, but I did audition the Dartzeel.  My impression is that it's a good integrated, but you pay a huge premium for the name and craftsmanship in areas which do not necessarily translate into better sound.  ...
First Hand Experience?
wcc10, I don't have any experience with Rotel, but I do have it with Parasound.  I don't think you will find any issues with 2-channel performance with either the A23 or A21.  There are plenty of reviews on the net and testimonials here and on oth...
Sierra Denali
Are they made by GMC? :)
Straightwire speaker cable Crescendo vs Crescendo II
The biggest difference is in the inner core design.  My understanding is that the II was an improvement over the original in both dynamics and detail.  The II also supposedly more flexible than the original (it is one seriously thick and stiff cab...
Best Flexible Digital player around $1000
By "flexible" do you mean capable of playing multiple formats or have other capabilities?  If you are looking for a universal player, the Oppo 105 is certainly hard to beat, particularly with streaming and a great DAC.  If you are only playing red...
