| Calling Harbeths 40.1 owners I dont really think the 40.1 is a "better" speaker than the SHL5 when combined with a good (I used REL) subwoofer. Just different. Depending on your tastes, I put them equal when a subwoofer is integrated well into the SHL5 system.I think anyone w... | |
| Calling Harbeths 40.1 owners I use them in a room pretty much the same size on the short wall also. (14.5' X 19.5') I also moved up from the SHL5s. They will work in your room. However it has taken me awhile to get them dialed in. At first I was not happy with the move from t... | |
| Which speakers have the biggest soundstage I agree with the two above. I slightly prefer the sound of the SHL5s and they dont need to be in the corners to get there best bass. | |
| Subwoofer placement I tried most of whats been offered and if you have a room that you can place the sub "anywhere".... I would try putting it in the listening position firing into the room and then place it where the bass is best sounding in the room. | |
| Which cost more: your system or your car? System, almost twice over. 2006 Acura TL | |
| ya gotta watch this Thanks! I too have sent it to a bunch of friends. My wife and i really enjoyed it. | |
| What percentage of audiophiles use a sub ? I used a REL with my Harbeths and will probably always use a sub even when using full range speakers. Setup and integrating it was easy and very rewarding. It has nothing to do with vibrating internal organs. | |
| To all tube lovers....... If I was going to go SS, Ayre V-1xe. But I would rather get a more powerful tube amp from either BAT or Manley. | |
| Class A headphone amp equal to Luxman SQ-38 Why not just get one of the dedicated Luxman headphone amps? P-200, P-1u. www.ttvj.com carries both and I think he has a return policy. | |
| Good amps for Thiel CS 3.7 speakers? I have heard (and owned 7.2s) several Thiels including the 3.7s with all Ayre systems and thought they were nice. But if I was looking to warm them up I would move to BAT, both preamp(tube) and amp (SS) with them. | |
| How far do you sit from your speakers My room is around 14.5 X 19.5 X 8, speakers are on the short wall about 8' apart and I am around 12' from them. | |
| Mcintosh 501's vs. 7000 Cant really tell you which is more detailed, but the 501s have always sounded warmer than the 7000 to me. | |
| Harbeth SHL5 placement Short wall would be my choice. I used my SHL5s in a room 14.5 X 19.5 X 8 and found the short wall to be more to my liking. I had a different take on seating than Ryder. I was 12-13 feet from speakers and sound was great. That said, i also tried th... | |
| Harbeth or Coincident I havent heard those Coincident speakers. But can say in that room and your muscial tastes the 7s would be very good. | |
| Threshold SA/4E or Pass X-250?? As nice as the amp was with the Thiels, didnt work out to great with the Harbeths. I will keep listening until I sell it, in case I change my mind. But will probably try either the Pass or one of the McCormack amps after I recover my $$$ |
