Are Atma-Sphere MP-1 and VSE RTP-3D similar?
The line section of my MP-1 MK III is very quiet. It is not dead quiet.
CD players for soundstage depth
Speaker placement is a good place to start for improving soundstage depth, as Sugarbrie stated above. Also, reducing the system noise floor using some power conditioning and/or good power cords goes a long way to improving resolution, thereby maki...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
No suggestion has been made to mod the PD-65. I offered the Empirical Audio PD-65 mod as an illustration that Steve Nugent thought the PD-65's stable platter transport worthy of taking to a higher level (basically by improving the power supply/del...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
DACs have advanced since the early 90s (as have all-in-one CD players). Better, more resolving chipsets is one reason. If you want to give the Cambridge a try, why not watch for a used one to come up for sale and buy it? You can often buy-and-try u...
Are Atma-Sphere MP-1 and VSE RTP-3D similar?
Modwright and MP-1 were the most similar of the three. Both are transparent. However, the Modwright sounded too much like solid state for me. Rather one dimensional, IMO. I believe Modwright preamps have come a long way since then. The Supratek jus...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
Steve Nugent of Empirical Audio thought highly enough of the PD-65 as a transport to offer mods on it (click on Component Mods>Transport Mods for details).Empirical Audio does not offer PD-65 mods any longer, but that doesn't negate the fact th...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
05-27-08: Chadnliz...in reality it is very subtle to not even detectable far too often. Reality is defined by system resolution. The reality is that each listener will have a different idea of what is detectable since his/her system's resolution wi...
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
As my system progressed in resolution, differences in CD players, interconnects, power cords and speaker cables all became significant.System resolution is the key to detecting differences in any element in the chain.
Downsizing from Audio Research REF110 to 100.2
You can audition a Pass XA-30.5 from Reno HiFi. If you return the amp, you'll pay a restocking fee an return shipping, but the audition may change your world.Had it not been for Mark at Reno HiFi, I'd never have heard the Pass Labs amps, and I am ...
Are Atma-Sphere MP-1 and VSE RTP-3D similar?
I don't think I can direct you to a photo of the MP-1 internals. I own an MP-1, so I have the advantage of being able to compare.:)

I agree with Fluff1976.The PD-65 makes a very good transport. You might hear benefits by using an outboard DAC. This is where I'd suggest investing your digital dollars.
Are Atma-Sphere MP-1 and VSE RTP-3D similar?
Look similar except for the dual volume control and tube comliment. I'm thinking of purchasing one of them.Dracule1 (Reviews | Threads | Answers)They look nothing alike internally or externally, IMO. Also, they each use completely different tubes,...
Anyone use CD tweaks
The Herbie's CD Mat does not work in my Denon 3910. It makes the CD too thick to spin properly.
Pre for VAC Auricle Musicbloc 70/70
You're probably aware that member "Sherod" uses an Audio Horizons preamp with his VAC MusicBloc 70/70 and is quite happy with the combo.
Heres my plan, input please.
I agree that an audio club, or one or two local audiophiles who have systems one likes can be good resources.
