I want to re-introduce this subject.
I'm not certain Mmakshak's volume issue has to do with hot recordings (overmodulated...especially in the upper mids). Perhaps he can clear this up. I do understand the issues of hot CDs (they are rare in my collection), and CDs released with volum...

That's what I suspeceted.I do believe 50wpc is not enough juice to get your Paradigms singing. Look for 100wpc or more.

Von Schweikert VR-4sr MKII or Wilson Sophia
You have not mentioned what speakers you have heard with the NuForce, so it becomes very difficult to make meaningful suggestions since there is no baseline.I will again suggest doing a search of Audiogon member's systems for those who own NuForce...

I'm curious about the mixed reviews on the Audio Refinement Complete that you mentioned. Were these professional reviews? I have only read what I consider favorable professional reviews on this amp. I'd be interested to read another point of view.
Anyone into quality vintage direct drive?
I had a deal for a Thorens TD-147 and the seller reneged. I'm still in the market if anyone has a cherry Thorens table they'd like to sell. I'd prefer a model with auto lift-up.

I enjoy cheesecake.I'll assume this makes no difference since all readers will be indifferent.

I agree with Drubin.
Von Schweikert VR-4sr MKII or Wilson Sophia
You mention having owned the VR4 Jr, so you know the Von Schweikert sound. I heard NuForce Reference 8 on my VR4 Gen III HSE, and I found it to be too clinical for my taste. That's not to say it wouldn't be to your liking. What would be a warmer sp...
Von Schweikert VR-4sr MKII or Wilson Sophia
I own VR4 GenIII HSE, and I've heard the Sophia. Unless you strive for a dead-neutral-bording-on-clinical sound, I have a hunch you'd be happier with a warmer speaker than either of these two if you're going to be running the NuForce gear.
set vs otl, which is the most musical
Denf, here's the explanation on the Moscode Website. You'll need to scroll down to get to the MOSFET output section.I'm not a techie nor an engineer.
musicianiship--when is it bad or good ?
yes, my description is subjective, but i try to be as neutral as possible, as a reporter does.Mrtennis  (Threads | Answers)Have you read the newspaper lately? Neutral reporting is going the way of the Dodo. Thanks for your explanation. I just hope ...
question on pwr cords
I wanted to mention just a bit of what I hear with power cord changes. On digital gear, I tend to notice lack or presence of grain, which also means etch, and harshness. A great power cord will be grainless, and will produce the cliched "black back...

Mr T, do you enjoy plain rice cakes? Melba toast? By enjoy, I mean purchasing and eating them?Honestly, sir, your posts describe an excruciatingly dry method of observing life, in my opinion.
