My wife finally got it
Your wife has an "ear". That was an interesting story. I'd venture a guess that many other wives, and indeed, audiophiles would say the same thing, if they heard some good vinyl on a good playback deck. The key statements in your story were playin...
1st song you remember???
The 1st radio song I heard was "She Loves You", by the Beatles.
What system components would you buy if...........
Okay, I guess it's my turn to divulge my alternate choices. If I didn't have the Teres, I'd buy either aRedpoint Audio TestaRossa, or aProgressive Engineering turntable.(Cost no object, would be a Walker Proscenium)If I couldn't have a OL Silver ar...
What's next after my 300B Rega Turntable
Teres Model 255 Signature in Cocobolo. Origin Live Encounter tonearm, Shelter 501 MkII cartridge. That gives you the whole package for just under $5k. I speculate that you would have a very difficult time beating that for $10k, or even more.
Why Linear Tracking never took off?
The Revox TT is a pretty good one for their "genre" of TT, which is direct drive, and mediocre linear tracking. If you wanted a TT of this type, you should be aware that the direct drive types will impart a motor vibration into the platter(whether...
used when promised new
As a way to avoid this type of thing happening, I always have a money-back guarantee with every item I sell on this site. In this case, if Warrenh was unhappy with the deal, he could have returned the item for a full refund, less shipping, and the...
Burn in time...Reality or something else???
There have been some vigorous discussions about this on some other threads previously posted on this subject. You may want to refer to those to get some impressions. It seems there are 2 camps in this. Those who feel it is definitely an equipment c...
VPI Uprgade??
You have it right. TT, then arm, then cartridge. Where you go with the TT upgrade is up to you, but that is where you will get your best improvement in sound.
Riddle me this...
I'm with Harvey(Dr. Gizmo).
Continuation of my Thread on VPI, Basis, Origin...
Zaikesman, there is some information from Rwd's previous threads, that is at play here. He is having a problem with the JMW and the Helikon, as a combo. The Benz is not a problem, as I see it. From his previous threads, he has identified the JMW/H...
Bringin' that thrift-store smell home
I consider the "Thrift Store Smell" to be a kind of status symbol, that lets visitors know I have a large vinyl collection. I have heard that it is thought to have an aphrodisiac effect on certain female audiophiles. I'm still waiting to find out.
Riddle me this...
I'd like to put my 2 cents in regarding these last few posts, that have alot of merit in them. Nothing is perfect, and we will compromise in whatever we get.Like Sean says, it takes surface area and power to move alot of air for high-SPL deep bass...
Most Architectural Turntable/Best Looking?
Agree with the vote for Teres Audio. They are beautiful looking, and sounding, turntables, with a clean, functional, and elegant appearance. If you want something that is an industrial art statement, look at the Vyger Atlantis. Now that is a chunk...
Best blues guitarist, Clapton or Green
Hey, what about Robert Johnson? Or is that going back too far? He's the blues man.
Thoughts On "Bowling For Columbine"
Sean, alot more Americans know what is going on than many might think. The problem is that it is not really known what to do about it. It is a very sticky problem, and all the "normal" roads to the solution have been cleverly blocked or subverted ...
