Speakers/receiver for classical music and opera on a budget
If you truly need a receiver, the Outlaw RR2160 is pretty much the only game in town.If you can get by with an integrated amp with multiple outputs, then there are more possibilities. My advice: use that $600 to improve *one* of your components (ei...
tonearms, straight and curvy
So the "Technics" curve allows for a "straight-on" attachment of the headshell, whereas straight arms require the headshell offset?  Do all arms with a collet attached/removeable headshell need to be S-shaped, in order to accommodate that feature?

full-scale orchestral music—best test of speakers’ potential?
@Ihasaguy In other words, you're willing to settle for good enough, rather than great. My point remains, that if you optimize your system for full-scale orchestral, it's a pretty sure bet that your Eva Cassidy or Allman Bros. will sound great too.
Classical Music for Aficionados
Paul Lewis and Steven Osborne playing, errrrr, Schubert Piano Duets.Absolutely delightful music. And I like the recording.  The piano sound is realistic, not in your face, not hyped.  (Despite the label it's on!)
