lps sound bad
Are any of you saying that you do not have these very same issues with digital media?
cables are they worth it?
Instead of spending $800.00 on cables, you might want to spend the money on an electrician to run dedicated lines with upgraded outlets. A power line conditioner may be of benefit as well. And yes, you will hear the difference from these upgrades ...
"Budget" cable advice, please
You can pick up a pair of Alpha Core Micro Purl Cu interconnects for around $50.00 used and make your own power cords based on the Asylum cord recipe.
Systemdek IIX possible upgrades help needed.
What phono stage are you using and what aspect of the sound are you hoping to improve?
anyone remember the RGR preamp from the early 80's
Robert Grodinsky's preamp was fine in it's day, but time has moved on. I believe that it was the first preamp to implement RIAA EQ passively.
SME Series III or Shure SME Series III
It's a great move and the cartridge should work well. A good way to dip your toes into the analog waters, once again, without taking a bath. I hope that your preamp has a phono stage or you have purchased one. If you are a hands on type, there are...
SME Series III or Shure SME Series III
Stop messing around here, and on Audio Asylum, and buy the darned thing, before someone else does. It is a great arm, provided that you limit yourself to high compliance cartridges, and the Thorens table is just marvelous, as well. There is no bet...

You never know where those tubes have been!
Buying used vs. New
Never buy used. Ever, ever. It's way to dangerous; you are exposing yourself to sellers that are meth heads and gear that has been fenced so many times that you can't get the finger prints off of the case work.Too many of you guys are beating me t...
cartridges/styli--what's a good choice?
The new Ortofon series, Red, Blue, Bronze and Black have gotten some good reviews and many favorable comments on the audiophile bulletin boards. They all have replaceable stylii.
Next step up from NAD- PP2
The Jolida JD-9A would be a nice step up for $350.00 or the Gram Slee Era Gold MKV for around $650.00, the later is you do not need MC gain.
What's the + and - of the 12" Tonearms
In addition to the forementioned advantages in the reduction of tracking error, an even more important factor is that the arm is two inches further from the motor and main bearing, meaning the sources of vibration in the plinth and arm board.
Rega RB300 Arm Need Help with Setup
The silver vertical slider is the anti-skate. There should be a dial on the right hand outside of the bearing housing, that is the dynamic balance tracking force guage. Set both to zero, balance the arm with the stylus just bearly touching the gro...
Amps on the cheap....real cheap
Wow, that sucks. I take it that you are not handy with a soldering iron and a scope. Well, Musical Concepts is the best at this. Here is a link to the Adcom amp page:http://www.musicaldesign.com/adcom.htmBest of luck,Marty KohnPortland, OR
