Bad news for audiophiles?
The really bad news for audiophiles would be if Diana Krall, Pat Barber, Jane Monheit and Holy Cole all went down in a plane crash. Kind of like Richie Valens, The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly.
Lyra Delos 'belly cover'
I was always under the impression that it was a type of washi paper. The purpose is as a dust sheild for the motor and suspension. I imagine that it would be easy to cut away the free part and then scrape the balance off of the body. The trick is ...

I don't care about the price; I choose my wine by the color of the box.
How an audio rack can enhance your amp/pre
Interesting that those who, presumably, have never visited your listening room have been quick to weigh in on your findings. I find that the music sounds better with an open mind. Enjoy your new support system.
What to do with replaced tweeters
The market will determine the value if you sell via auction.
Ken Bernacky Stereo Surgeons
A bit more information about your tuners and the story would've been helpful. It's very easy to disparage a small business in three sentences without giving a detailed and insightful explanation. And sometimes in anger we forget that those reading...
Ken Bernacky Stereo Surgeons
I rather like their quixotic fight with both the Episcopal church and their town of East Hartford that they have chosen to immortalize on their website:http://www.stereosurgeons.com/GENOISGOD.htmlI am fascinated by folks that have more time on the...
Did Redbook get it right?
Strange question. Nothing gets it right except a live concert with living, breathing musicians and even then, not always. If one subscribes to that then it becomes a matter of personal taste which distortions we want to listen to. As with all matt...
deciding betw. some fine, small speakers-Advice?
It just so happens that a pair of B&W DM5s just came up on the board at half off retail - I have no relationship with the seller.
Thorens TD 160-significant upgrade possible $1500?
I believe that your idea is a good one. Source first. You might also look at a Rega or even a used Linn table. The phono stage in your amp is quite capable; I would allot that money to a new phono cartridge instead. Good luck!
Pre-amp causing loud hiss from speakers
Interestingly, the cj Classic is not a tube preamp, but a tube/solid state (FET) hybrid, which may speak to the lack of noise in the piece.
Pre-amp causing loud hiss from speakers
Since you're in for a penny you might as well check one more thing. With the amp off, remove the interconnects from the amp. Replace them with, preferably, shorting plugs, but RCA caps would probably work as well. Turn the amp back on. What you ar...
Pre-amp causing loud hiss from speakers
As Newbee correctly points out the gain architecture of the system is completely wrong for the extremely high sensitivity LaScalas, which will magnify any noise upstream. For what it's worth, IMHO the Quicksilvers are much better sounding amps tha...
Audiogon etiquette question
It's asking a bit much to expect a seller to accept an offer that has never been made.
Is Vinyl Worth It
I prefer mine medium rare actually.
