AES Superamp or Quicksilver Mini-Mites?

I don't have any experience with the Quicksilver amps but owned a Superamp wired in triode for several years and absolutely loved it. It's one of those pieces I really regret selling. I did so because I needed more than 15 watts for my speakers, or thought I did, but I wish I still had it.

It was dead quiet, beautifully built and sounded terrific with a wide range of output tubes. I used EL34, 5881, 6550, KT66, KT88 and KT77's in it and they all sounded great. Different, but great.

The auto-bias feature is very nice if you like to experiment with different tubes.

I've heard very good things about the Quicksilver, as well, but I don't think you can go wrong with an AE-25.

I have owned both and prefer the Quicksilvers.

I have owned a pair of Quicksilver Mini-Mites for my midrange horn speakers on a tri-amped system for several months. These are fantastic little amps, extremely quiet, beautifully made, with a clean, dynamic, and musical sound. You can't go wrong with these amps for about $1,200 for the pair. I spoke with Mike Sanders, the owner of Quicksilver, originally about getting the more expensive horn amps for my horn speakers. Mike told me to get the less expensive Mini-Mono amps as the impedence rating on my electronic crossover would not have mated as well with the more expensive horn amps. Call Mike directly at Quicksilver. He's a great guy.
