All Quiet on the Oppo front?

Many Oppo fans were talking about getting their pre-ordered UDP-205's a month ago, but no new posts as to current status. I haven't heard a word. I kinda thought there would be a July release, but apparently not.

Anybody receive any news from Oppo in the past month?

The July release were already delivered.  There are 2 more shipments coming this month.

A few weeks ago, I reached out to Oppo and asked how close I was to the top of the list.  They emailed back that they couldn't tell me but all the July orders already went out and that there will be 2 more delivery's in August.  Also everyone who confirmed their pre-order would get their unit.  You and I should get ours sometime this month.

Myself and butaco are also waiting so we can order

There is a batch coming in within a week or two, then another batch towards the end of the month, so that makes it 2 more chances. I am not thinking too much about the wait. Last year I waited 7 1/2 months for my speakers after I plunked down a 4K deposit. The wait was agonizing and almost drove me insane. Or did it?

It sure does.  I signed up the second week that you could do it and I am still waiting while others who ordered way after I did already got theirs.  If I do get a message from them, I may not bother answering them I am so angery.  I may just buy a Sony
I just just received my offer in an email from Oppo.  Thinking of passing on it.  I have until 11:59pm sept 14 to decide.  I’m thinking it’s kind of frivolous at this point.
@uberwaltz....................

i have been waiting as long and heard nothing.  I confirmed my email address with them May9 and have heard nothing since.
I believe it was at least a couple of weeks after they announced they were ceasing production.  I can't find my first email on when I originally
 signed up but I did confirm on May 9.
I corresponded with Oppo today.  I explained to them that some people that confirmed their email after 5/9 already received theirs.  They told me that Oppo used the date that people first signed up, not the date they confirmed email.  I was also told to watch my email as one will be coming soon for me.  So, who knows maybe I will get one.
@bultaco........................

i spoke with with them via email. I received a response within 3 hours.
Yup, it sure does.  I don’t mind waiting until the end of this month.  If nothing by then, I will buy the top of the line Sony.  I have a 12 year old Sony player I paid $500 for from Best Buy.  It takes forever to load a Blu Ray disk, been like it from day one.  I have done all the firmware updates but it is really outdated.   I thought the Oppo would be a good follow up.
@d2girls...............................................
That would be cheating.  Why don’t you try it and then see how long you sit on them?
If I should get the email that my 205 is ready to be shipped, I will probably decline it.  I won’t be using it for anything more than Blu-Ray and since my Samsung 55 inch TV isn’t 4K,  it’s overkill.   I won’t be using the dac as I already have an Uber expensive Esoteric and a McIntosh SACD players.  I also have a built in dac on my McIntosh preamp.

Thinking about out all this, it doesn’t seem to be won’t dropping $1300 plus shipping on it.
I spoke too soon!  My wife talked me into purchasing one.  She said I would regret it later if I didn't get one..  I just hope it doesn't need service and parts are available for it.  I would assume if Oppo is going to service them, then they must have parts in stock for them.
@kpetrich...................................

i put put the order in this morning.  I still think it to be a frivolous purchase because this will be strictly for Blu-Ray, nothing else.  I already have an Esoteric and McIntosh SACD players.   My wife knows me better than I do and she felt it would gnaw at me if I didn’t buy it.  So, I took her advice and ordered it.
I think play it again audio should be ashamed of themselves by taking advantage of us audiophiles.  The fact that they are price gouging the player makes me to never want to purchase anything from them.  I think the UDP205 is a decent player but nothing to write home about.  I find the sound forward and bright, not smooth.  I will only be using mine for Blu-Ray so it doesn't matter much to me, but for someone planning on using it for cd and sacd, you can do much better.  The Marantz SA8005 is a much better sounding player.
@uberwaltz..............

yes, it was listed at retail but they knew the price would be way over that.  They did it that way to not look greedy but I am not fooled
@ozzy,

Same here, for 4K movies and as my Blu-Ray player.  I have no interest in using it in my audio system.  I am running mine with the LG TV and sound goes through a Zvox.  Good enough for the occasional movie.
