"A complete fool at best"

Surely you don't mean this Glory, it was an impulsive response, right? Have you never been touched by loss of a loved one in such a tragic manner or even under normal circumstances? If not you have been truly blessed and maybe it makes us better understand your lack of empathy which if true is a sad testament about you. Personally I don't believe you really meant what you posted in the way it came across to the rest.

We should all be sad as human beings that this type of tragedy repeats itself everyday. When we see the life of a young person that is widely known snuffed out so prematurely, it reminds us all of our own personal losses and ask, "if only.....

"The best way to stop the massive tragedy of drug addiction would be to secure our border with Mexico and start eradicating poppies in Afghanistan."

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The ONLY way to stop the tragedy of drug addiction is to STOP DEMAND, EDUCATION, EDUCATION EDUCATION is where the resources need to be emphasised and spent! Supply is always driven by demand other than introduction of a new product. Why is this so difficult for some to understand? Sorry for going off topic and the deep end but this particular topic is a pet peeve of mine when I hear this argument.
Oh Glory,

Sorry, I misjudged you. May you live and die in your peace and righteousness. My prayers are for her troubled soul as well as her family and those who truly cared for her.

May this thread die as well.
Glory

What you fail to understand is that this is an audio forum, not a place to extoll your religious beliefs. This thread is about a young woman that died tragically admittedly through her reckless, self-destructive behavior. Why do you feel so compelled to sit in judgement? Why can't you keep your personal religious comments out of this thread? Enough is enough, let it go. Your hell fire and brimstone rhetoric has no place here. If you want to reach folks in such a manner, find a forum that welcomes it. I can assure you it is not welcome here!
Chad, Joplin was a truly tragic tortured figure. She was quite insecure and conversely played out a role to cover up her perceived shortcomings. She couldn't conceal it in her performance, I saw her in 1969 and to this day I never saw a performance where an artist beared her soul for all to see in such a heart wrenching way, it was so tragic and sad to watch. I really was in tears during the performance, you could FEEL the pain she was in. She really was a quite complex person, extremely intelligent, well read but rarely revealed this side of herself. It seems her drinking and outrageous behavior was to cover up her personal issues, really sad man.

We can only speculate about what led Amy down her self-destructive path. Much has been written but who but those close, if even they, knew what was in her heart and mind to make the choices she did. What is indisputable to me is that she DID have an original talent which I discovered a few years back watching some of her youtube performances after reading so much about her personal problems. What is so tragic to me is that she didn't make it past this self-destructive period in her life, some do, many don't, it is just such a total waste witnessing this play out again and again.

Thank you for the update Godbless, and for giving us all a first hand account of the love felt towards her and by her, it tilts the balance away from superficial speculation, a good thing.
Well what started out as RIP tribute to a fallen human being has encompassed it all, religion, politics, name calling and sadly enough, by some a lack of demonstrable understanding of the meaning of the words civility, respect and compassion. A reflection of the building tension and division in our society maybe? When we stop caring for each other as individuals and collectively, and feel free to say whatever pops into our heads with thoughless abandon all the while smug in our convictions that whatever we want to say is ok without consideration for others, we all lose. We'll all get what's coming to us for sure, not just Amy. I am really surprised at the hard boiled callousness demonstrated, particularly on a thread such as this where we should be coming together, the irony.
Why don't you just post what I sent you Chad rather than leave it to open speculation. If it is "kinda creepy" do get an e-mail from a member, I suggest you make it unavailable. You are indeed pathetic.
