Aretha Franklin RIP

Sad to hear this. Fortunately, we have a large catalog of her music to enjoy.

Very sad indeed. There are a very, very small handful of musical artists whom have contributed so much to music. She crossed many genre, from blues to jazz to soul. Such a huge talent and what a signature voice. She will be missed but yes we have her wonderful music that will live on....

Amen. And I'm not a religious person. She had it-- the real deal gospel thing. Hell of a performer.
Ray Charles was THE male singer of out times, Aretha the female. Her Jerry Wexler-produced recordings done in Muscle Shoals, Alabama are as good as music gets.
Listening to Amazing Grace as I type.  S'funny, I've always equated this amazing record to Frank Sinatra's 'Live At The Sands' in that it's one of the truly rare recordings capturing an artist at the peak of their powers, in front of what can only be described as their 'home' audience.  She preceded this with her incredible 'Live At The Fillmore West' but terrific as that record is, she was in church for Amazing Grace, she was home.  RIP.
One of the greatest vocalists of all time a true legend she will be missed.
