Beware Olive owners


I recently had issues with my Olive o4HD that I bought from Olive in mid-2013. I sent it to them for diagnosis - bad motherboard, and they cannot fix it due to parts no longer available. I was/am livid about this. They did offer to sell me a new ONE at a minor discount. Bottom line, for you current Olive owners if your unit does go bad, it cannot be fixed. Only model being supported now is the ONE. Olive has given their early adopters the Bronx salute by not supporting their previous models. Just a fair warning to current owners of their HD models. Poor, shameful customer support in my opinion.

Sorry for your situation, but thanks for the heads up.

I suspect that in the long run this won't be an isolated issue with dedicated music servers. They're essentially customized computers which rely upon hard drives, CPU boards and I/O cards. There's no guarantee that 10-15 years from now any of these parts will be available for repairs. I love my HD music server, but I dread their long-term serviceability.
That's why I built my own music server. If you can build a computer, you can build a music server. They're one in the same.
Find friends with same problems, find lawyer and file class action lawsuit to get full refund on products.

Onhwy61 - my Olive was barely2 yrs old and they did not have available parts to fix an inherent design problems. My server should have been fixable. It is no wonder they now only have one unit to sell. This has absolutely been the worst audio experience of my life and I have bought many items.
I have the same problem with Olive 04HD. It was DOA and they did not send me a RA#. They delayed about taking the unit back and now are delaying about fixing it. Their customer service sucks. Can't comment on their product because it has never worked.

The CD drive in my 4HD died and I was informed me that it is a long discontinued part, and none are available.
Elybry - at the very least they should send you an Olive ONE 2TB server. I will never own another OLIVE product and will do what I can to get the word out on their poor CS.
