Bit Depth and Sample Rate Output Settings: iTunes & Windows 10 PC

What is the preferred method for bit depth and sample rate settings in the following signal chain:

1. Source Material: mostly 16/44.1 alacs, some 24/96 alacs
2.. Software: iTunes. Set to 24/96 or 16/44.1?
3. Windows 10 playback: Set to 24/96 or 16/44.1?
4. DAC: Wyred DAC1 via USB

@tomask6 In windows, playback devices, it will show what the device (computer) is capable of. You can tic all that are relevant. Don't tick DSP or equalisation. I just messes the signal up.

I would upload at the highest resolution as it will be down sampled to the available rate.

Oh, and I would download in FLAC if possible. You can then convert to WAV but you will lose much of the metadata (song title, track # and so on), You could use MP3TAG to retrieve the if wanted but FLAC will play well for you.
