CARY SLP05 - tube configuration?

For all you 05 owners, what are the tubes that you use or mix of tubes that you use and on which locations?  I currently have 4 popes in the system, mixed with 2 stock EH tubes in the right and left single ended negative sections.

I find it to be the right mix of bite and warmth.

@firedrums. we're waiting on the first report on another thread.

@OP.  Blackbase 6sn7w shorties in the balanced section.  Quad RCA VT231 grey glass in the four left sections.  Quad KenRad VT231s work well, too.--black glass or clear, either way.

Budget combo I like-- Sylvania 6sn7gta/b chrome top in the balanced and quad GE 6sn7gta side getter in the four left sections.

Really depends on your gear and preferences.  These sound rich and a little warm with good mids on my gear.

An interesting combo was BGRPs in the balanced with a quad of mouse ears.  Best I can describe it is "angelic," but thin.

Don't know why, but I use quads in the four left.  (Sorry, I can't remember the numbers).  Anyone mixing them up with good results?

OP--If you like the EH, all good.  Some people do.  Don't let us NOS/vintage snobs get in your head.  :)

What's odd is that the new production Tung Sols look almost identical to me, internally, but I think they are similar with just a touch more warmth with a little bit more solid bass.  Could be in my head or just different batches.

I'll probably get lit up for saying it, but maybe even try JJs.  They came stock in another pre, and I haven't felt an overwhelming need to change them out just yet.
@mikey8811 ."Sylvania chrome dome GT’s with 3 hole construction in the balanced positions."  IMO, that's one of the sweet spots from Sylvania.  I like the blackbase 6sn7w shorties just a tick more, but they are usually 2-4x the price.
