DACs and Clean, Well Regulated AC Power

About 3 1/2 years ago I took a "leap of faith" and purchased a then new PS Audio DirectStream DAC, and was "blown away" by how good it sounded.  Back then I also had a modest Furman power conditioner.

When I upgraded the Furman to a PS Audio P10 Power Plant, I immediately noticed an improvement from the DAC, more detail, a little better dynamics, better soundstage, a little more distinct bass and a bit more "smoothness".

This week I took advantage of a trade up offer, replacing my P10 with the new P15 Power Plant and immediately noticed an increase in the quality from both my DirectStream and Mytek Brooklyn DACs.  These improvements were similar to the Furman to P10 improvements, just a bit better with the P15.

Since I don't have a turntable, I'm not sure if clean, well regulated power would have a similar effect with analog sources; I suspect it does, but I'll let others comment on that.

By the way, did you know you can use an external power supply with the Mytek Brooklyn as a cost effective upgrade?

Not only did it help the sound, it also seems to have helped with reliability. I don't have quite as many glitches when switching to high resolution sources. I suspect this is due to less heat in the case.

Best,
