Headphones and amp for upright bass lessons.

Another music practice bug bit me to get an upright fretless bass lessons. For this effort I purchased Palatino VE500 upright fretless bass and would look for best suitable practice amp and pair of headphones. The largest challenge is hearing the proper bass notes. Is there frequency multiplier that would allow to hear the sound that is actually octave higher from the actual?
