Help: Integrated amp for Era Design 5


I posted this last night but didn't seem to go through...here goes again.

Putting together my first real 2.1 music system. Current system consist of an Airport Express>Beresford TC7510 Dac>Marantz 7400 receiver>Velodyne HGS-10>Era 5 speakers. The Era-5s are power hungry speaker and I don't think my receiver is bring the best out of them. My budget is $800 but willing to go up to $1000 if there is a big difference in sound quality and min 150W/ch into 4ohms. I listen to all kinds of music. I prefer to buy used/demo items vs new (better bargain). Considering the following...any other suggestions?

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record on this, but the Onkyo A-9555 integrated puts out 170-200 watts into 4 ohms, and can muster peaks of 80 amps.

It lists for $800 and sounds every penny of it (and more, really), but you can get B-stock with warranty from http://www.accessories4less.com for $400 in black or silver, or as A-stock with full 3-year factory warranty for about $484 from Amazon with free shipping, or $450 plus shipping from J and R Music World. After years with some highly regarded high current separates from the used market (Amber, VSP Labs), I decided to try this integrated and it beats'em in every way. Very fast and detailed, yet smooth and musical, with exceptional bass clarity and all the hallmarks of immediate current delivery.

I can't say enough about how good this thing is. I've heard several current offerings including British integrateds and I much prefer the Onkyo.
Have you decided for any of the integrated options?

I have also the D5's paired with Cambridge Audio 640A and 640C. The integrated gives 75w which I find more than enough for the D5's, actually the volume pot doesn't go beyond the middle.

I sometimes listen at very high volumes and the CA640A's control over the D5's is fantastic. You should give it a try.
I haven't decided yet and still researching.
