Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?

As just another way to build a loudspeaker system why such disputes in forums when horns are mentioned?    They can solve many issues that plague standard designs but with all things have there own.  So why such hate?  As a loudspeaker designer I work with and can appreciate all transducer and loudspeaker types and I understand that we all have different needs budgets experiences tastes biases.  But if you dare suggest horns so many have a problem with that suggestion..why?

Audio Visual Therapy in Nashua NH is the only Heritage dealer near me. They had Heresy Capitol and Forte lll on display.   Great guys up there , no tax.....  They have a lot of great speakers on display and the best headphone room I've ever seen
I just ordered a pair of Klipsch Heresy lll......  a complete 180 for me but i'm looking for a sensitive speaker that is tube friendly.  Currently have a pair of Quicksilver Mid Monos, that I 'll never sell.... but I'd like to try building something like a bottlehead amp.
I did something quite unexpected.....   I auditioned a pair of Klipsch Heresy lll.....   and I ended up taking them home.   With a good sub they sound fantastic and are the closest thing to live music I've ever had in this room...
I am thoroughly enjoying my new Klipsch Heresy lll...   I have had a number of speakers  in the past, bigger, smaller, more expensive but none have been more engaging and fun to listen to.   Are they perfect? No ...  Do they measure flat?  No.....  but they sound great.

I was growing tired of chasing the "perfect sound" which I have come to realize is not possible given my room and budget.   Are these the last speakers I'll ever own?  Probably not, but with two kids in college and possibly downsizing in the near future these ARE perfect for me . I will say this,  I will never sell these, they are just to much fun to listen to.....
Thanks,  I want to experiment with SET like a Decware or maybe even build the Decware kit or a Bottlehead.    They are fun to listen to and make me really want to tap my feet...... I was going to sell my current speakers but I'm going to put them in another room, maybe even give them to my son.
Enjoy,  I am loving mine....I've had them about a week and they are a fun speaker......
I'm listening to a movie with the Heresys and my sub and it sounds awesome.....  was listening to Joe Bonamassa at Albert Hall... sounded "live"    i am really loving these speakers.
$22,000 base...  $7000 for real wood veneer?  10k for better vox driver?      $40K ?    Out of reach for most of us ......
Hey Wolf, I'm glad you're enjoying the Heresys.....  I've had mine about three weeks too and they sound great....  I agree , these are great speakers , especially for the money... their strengths far outweigh any shortcomings they may have.   Enjoy yours , I know I am.
My first speaker was an Altec 4....don't know who owned Altec at the time but that piezo tweeter was ear piercing
My Heresy III are about 9 feet apart... the sweet spot is in the middle 10 feet away, but i often sit in the corner about 7 feet away and the soundstage is still huge and the imaging is very good.   They are toed in just a bit and it actually sounds pretty good no matter where you sit.  The room is 17 x 15 ,  these speakers are the perfect size.

After many small monitor / sub systems I am really enjoying these .... the mid bass impact and the way a bass guitar or kick drum sounds through these is impossible to achieve with small drivers.  I've owned many fine monitors and they just can't get the lower registers right.

I lost a midrange driver in my Heresy.....  I could not believe how easy it was to replace the diaphram......   thanks PWK.....
I was questioning my tweeter's condition after my daughter wrecklessly cranked the volume and damaged a midrange so I decided to order Crites titanium diaphrams.   They are excellent !!!    Even better was Bob's customer service.  Unbelievable level of passion for speakers and his customers.   Crites Speakers has another loyal customer .
