How do designers fare when they change companies?

Mark Levinson, Bob Carver, Nelson Pass, Dan D'Agostino all started somewhere else and moved to start a new company.

Some of the guys at Infinity speakers left to start Genesis.

Dan D'Agostino has left Krell and rolled out with his own line of amps.

I'm sure there are others that I don't know about that are not mentioned above. Of the ones I've mentioned above, it seems Nelson Pass may have fared the best. Who are the success stories guys that have moved on?

I would say John Ulrick, formerly from Infinity, is doing well with Spectron.

Too much cult of personality in "high-end" anyhow. Don't look behind the curtain at some of the real creative stuff in pro audio and parts manufacturers.
