How to program the TIVO remote to work with the PARASOUND HALO Integrated amplifier

I have been trying to program my TIVO remote to control the volume on my PARASOUND HALO Integrated amplifier and cannot get it to work.

The TIVO Settings say to use the remote code 1254 to connect but this does not work.  I then used the instructions below and they did not work (I did this 3 times):

"Search for a code to control the volume on your A/V or stereo receiver
 1. Cover the end of the TiVo remote control with your hand.
2. Hold down the TiVo and Mute buttons simultaneously until the red (or amber) light on the remote control remains on.
3. Remove your hand from the end of the TiVo remote control.
4. Enter code 1999.
5. After you enter the code, the red (or amber) light will flash three times and then remain on.
6. Press Channel Up once every two seconds. This will test hundreds of codes, one by one. Do not go any faster than this or you may skip over a code that works.

Reminders:
  • If you press Channel Up and the volume on your AV/Stereo receiver becomes muted, press Enter to select the code. Press Volume Up and then Volume Down to test the code. If the volume changes, you have successfully programmed the remote.
  • If you cycle through all the codes, the red LED will go off, indicating that you have tried all the codes. If this happens, or if you selected a code but the AV/Stereo receiver does not respond to the test, try again to make sure you did not skip over your code by going too fast”.

After entering the 1999 code, I pressed the channel up button at least 250 times.   Do I have to keep going???

I called my CABLE Company and they confirmed that what I was doing is correct so they referred me to TIVO Customer Support.   I will call them on Thursday.

The Parasound remote works fine so I should be able to program the TIVO Remote to control the volume on the Parasound HALO amp.   Does anyone have a TIVO Remote code for the Parasound HALO amp that will correctly program the TIVO remote, or any other suggestions?    Any suggestions are appreciated.       Thanks....

there are times where you will have a code for a particular device and no matter how hard you try to program the remote, the two arent compatible.   this might be one of those times.
Thanks.  I had a similar problems getting the TiVo remote to work with my Ayre AX-7e amp.  Ayre was not helpful and neither was TiVo.  My Cable Conpany provided some hints and I finally got it to work.

I plan on calling PARASOUND and TiVo today for help.   We will see.

PARASOUND is listed on TiVo’s remote settings and I am hoping there is a remote code that works.

Any other suggestions?

@stereo5, I use a TiVo Cable Box that is connected to my TV Set that controls my TV and also provides a digital video recorder (DVR).   I can review the on-line program guide and select programs that I want recorded by pushing a single button.  TiVo is very easy to use and makes channel selection and channel recording very easy.  My TiVo provides access to Netflix, YouTube, Pandora and several other similar services.  WAVE Broadband is my cable company and they provided me with the TiVo Cable box as part of their service.

"TiVo (/ˈtiːvoʊ/ TEE-voh) is a digital video recorder (DVR) developed and marketed by TiVo Corporation and introduced in 1999. TiVo provides an on-screen guide of scheduled broadcast programming television programs, whose features include "Season Pass" schedules which record every new episode of a series, and "WishList" searches which allow the user to find and record shows that match their interests by title, actor, director, category, or keyword. TiVo also provides a range of features when the TiVo DVR is connected to a home network, including film and television show downloads, advanced search, personal photo viewing, music offerings, and online scheduling".

Do you have any other questions?

It sounds very similar to the HD cable box I have from FIOS which enables one to record as well.
I contacted TiVo Customer Support and they confirmed the pairing steps I was using noted above are correct.  I re-entered the commands and was UNABLE to correctly pair my TiVo Remote to my Parasound amplifier.

I called PARASOUND and am waiting for them to reply.   Hopefully, PARASOUND has a code that I can use that will work.

PARASOUND Customer Support reports "No, the TiVo remote will NOT work.  He will need to use a universal remote with learning capabilities".

My local retailer recommends the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote.  It seems, based on my understanding, this remote does not support the PARASOUND HALO amp and it would need to be programmed.  In addition, it is unclear if the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote supports the TiVo functions we use.  The retailer reports they have not tested this remote with the PARASOUND HALO amp.

I will contact my Cable Company, again, and ask if they have a TiVo remote the can be programmed to work with the HALO Amp.   This capability probably does not exist so we will continue to use our two remotes (TiVo & PARASOUND HALO Remotes).  To be honest, they are working fine so I probably will do nothing.  We just have to use two remotes and not one.

If you have any suggestions, please update this post.  Thanks..

As noted above, I have been unable to connect my TiVo remote to my PARASOUND HALO Integrated amplifier to control the volume.

PARASOUND says "no code exists" (I asked them twice) and my Cable Company has no solution.   I considered the Harmony Remote Elite but its user interface causes more problems.

It seems the communication capability between these devices does not exist so we will continue to use the 2 remotes (TiVo and PARASOUND remotes).

Unless, of course, someone on this forum has a solution.  Thanks.
