JBL C51 Apollo 12" Version?

Just picked these up at a local pawn shop and finally hooked them up. All driver's are working and they sound great regardless of the dry woofer surrounds that need to be replaced. Just noticed that the woofer surrounds we're yellow. Then I noticed that they were not 15" driver's but 12 inchers. I didn't notice this right away because they almost look like they came out of the factory this way. Is this just a clean looking "modification"? I'm almost tempted to refoam them as-is instead if paying $4-600 for a set if 15's. Any thoughts?

The C51 used the LE-12A woofer with Lanaloy surround. It has a yellow appearance! It tends to dry out with age. Don't replace it with modern foam! It will cause the speaker to be "out of spec"! Instead, get a can of brake fluid and apply it to the surrounds overnight. Avoid getting any on the cones! Repeat until the surrounds feel soft and pliable. I have to do this on my C56 Dorian's - same woofers. Your C51's are worth quite a lot providing they aren't altered with changed parts! Vintage JBL C series are very desirable!
The C50 used a 15 inch woofer - a LE15A with the same yellow Lanaloy surround. These surrounds tend to dry out - but can be restored using auto brake fluid application!
