I have purchased from cdjapan.com.
Legit source for Japanese import cds?
I have been looking around for various albums that I have thought about purchasing as japanese imports. But the more I look around the more confusing it is.
While on Ebay one site listed a rather lengthy rant about bootlegs coming from China, Hong Kong and Russia. They themselves claimed to be the real deal, but when I saw their prices I was a bit taken aback.
They had some nice offerings, but their prices hovered around the $85 dollar and up range.
I usually see japanese imports for much less-always around the $25 dollar range. The jazz imports with the cardboard sleeves at J&R Music World in NYC are priced reasonably, so I can only assume these cats are partaking in a bit of price-gouging. But I'm not 100% certain.
Having said that, if any of you out there purchase japanese releases from legitimate sources I would love to know who they are.
I want to take the confusion out of the purchases I want to make and not get burned with inferior sounding bootlegs.
