Plugging ports in revel studio 2s

Does anyone have any experience with this?  Given the port is on the bottom I’m curious if one needs to remove the speaker from the base or if there are easier ways to do this.  I’m playing with subwoofer settings and reading through the Sounddoctors guide which recommends this so thought I’d try it but looking for an easy method. Thanks!

I have Studio 1's and have never had any need to do this. It would be better to get your room, ancillory equipment, Cables etc. right, as I believe 1's & 2's are reasonably sumiliar soundwise.
I actually did try this a few months ago to my Studio2s on the recommendation of a JL Audio tech. The reasoning being, that it was impossible to truly match the phase of the subs to the mains at the crossover point if the port was producing a third source. I get the logic, I guess. Anyway, I removed the bottom woofer and firmly placed a tightly rolled up piece of foam into each of the ports. I can’t say I liked the sound with the port plugged. It sounded sort of congested and too flat. I removed them after a few days. It’s really quite easy to do as long as you have the proper screwdriver (torx if I recall).
I tried port plugs on my Revel 106 and it ruined thier bottom end.... congested and definitely not an improvement.
Thanks for the comments. Once I get my room reconfigured sounds like it may be something worth tinkering with but in the short term I’ll leave well enough alone!
