Revel Ultima Studio 2 & Pass Labs XA30.5

Gents;

does anybody run the above combo together?

Was it enough power within reasonable volumes? 90-95 dB occasionally?

What was the sound quality like?

Gents :

I'be been running the Studio2's with the Pass Labs XA30.5 & CJ ET3.
(et3 has lots of gain, only 48 of 100 on preamp at 87-90 db)

It appears to be plenty......
125 watts a/b(6 db headroom)and 30 watts Class A

at 87 db, and way louder than I can stand, the 30 watt needle just lightly wiggled

very happy with bass & high end.....and power

Now, I'll spike the speakers and see how the bass reacts

Hi Jeff,
I'm in Australia. Besides the big Vincent Mono's. Vincent SP-T700, Vincent SP-994. Benchmark (Australia) Plexus upgraded, Benchmark A300 upgraded. Krell KSA-250, Rotel RB1090.
Own Studio 1's. My experience with them and for my personal tastes is they lap up heaps of Power and sound better with plenty of quality Power/Current. Out of my half dozen owned Power Amps and a couple of others tried with the Studios, my preference is for the big Vincent SP-998 Mono Blocks. A conservative 2 x 300 W. 8 ohms. 2 x 600 W. 4 ohms, 50W Class A. The big Vincents grip the Revels and control them effortlessly.

Nice stuff you have, by the way!
what city for the apartment?
toronto?

Re: pass Xa30.5
I guess I’ll find out today
studio2 ‘s arrive today

Jeff

If you still want to stay in Pass class A, you may want to try the XA60 models. They should do everything you need from the Studio 2s, which, in my experience are not nearly as hard to drive as the Salons are.

Thank you for the response.
x150 & xa30 are both about the same a/b. 150 Watts vs 130 watts, If I remember correctly.....

So, How loudly do you listen? When you find you need more “ umph “ on the x150?

i have a Thiel that is 87 dB efficiency & The amp runs them well?

My typical listen is 75-80 dB
& 85 dB-90 is my loud ?

Thanks again

Your system is sweet
what Speakers & amps did you own , before you got to your end game?

Ive heard the studuo’s before & it was so so; but I heard them with the right amp & now I’m sold!!!

My thought is I could live with lower hp, then upgrade at a later point; if required
It sounds like you did something similar
tubes s & then pass

Jeff
I have the Studio 2's and I think the XA30.5 is going to leave you wanting for more power. I personally use an X250.8 to drive my Studio 2's. I previously used an X150.8 which had enough power as well.

A friend owned an XA30.5 and had speakers with similar drive requirements as do the Studio 2's. Just not enough juice.
