Tone arm counter weight

Consider using the Rega STOCK, with the best phono stage you can afford.
If you're not, how can you really evaluate the Rega?

An aftermarket counterweight, is just one of many Rega tweaks that will drain you wallet fast. I had a P5 years ago with many tweaks. The  P6 is a nicer table, with the recent changes Rega made.
At the time, the plastic subplatter replaced with an aluminum unit was the only worthwhile tweak. The counterweight was a waste of money. Just my humble opinion.

Caveat emptor with aftermarket tweaks. Cart and phono stage is were hard earned cash is invested with real sonic improvements. Again, my opinion.

Other than that, go up the Rega food chain or try a different brand table in the future.

I've used one on a Jelco 750L and found it to improve focus.

I use J.A Mitchell TecnoWeight on my RP6. I have used the same weight on 2 of my previous TTs. Can’t go wrong with it.

Groovetracer.

I also use the TecnoWeight. Any of the underslung counterweights should be an improvement over stock.

bdp24, I think I would go for the Groovtracer in black version.
Is it necessary to remove the REGA (probably aluminium) rear tube portion of the tone arm, and replace it by the stainless steel included with the Groovtracer ?  Were you able to use the rotated knob VTF of the REGA arm after leveling the tone arm ?  If you have a RP6 REGA of course and RB 303 tone arm.  Or any body that install the Grooveteacer on.  Thank you.

To use to GT counterweight, you also replace the end stub that comes with the counterweight.
It may take some effort to remove the original one. Patience, and vise grips will get the job done.

@audiosens, I put a black Groovetracer on my RB300. It looked like it came with the arm! I bought my counterweight before the end stub was available. The counterweight in no way interferes with or disables the arms spring-loaded VTF adjuster. I sold the arm (which I had Cardas-rewired) a few years ago, and the counterweight separately.

I can attest to using the dropped (underslung) counterweight.  This weight stabilizes the arm and provides better sound.

tablejockey, It was quiet easy to remove it with rubber band and vise grip.  The result wit GT counter weight is better stereo separation left right and better high's definition.  And for the sub platter, more timber acuracy and depht sound stage.  Very Happy with the GT up grage
