after watching the less positive reviews about the NAD C658, I am going to wait. I am currently running a MacBook Pro with Audnirvana and Room EQ (demo room correction), and that really sounds good. I wanted to cut the Mac out of the chain, but why bother for an additional piece of hardware? I do want a better DAC... I am looking at the TEAC NT-505 or something that will do it all.. great redbook, DSD and MQA and whatever else comes along...
the latest revelation has been the Room EQ... I did some test measurements with the built in laptop microphone...and the software did its thing... speakers disappear into the room. The test graph shows some strange things between 30 and 50 Hz and I am sure the mic is at fault, but it seems pretty good so far....my untreated room sounds better
