Why does most new music suck?

Ok I will have some exclusions to my statement. I'm not talking about classical or jazz. My comment is mostly pointed to rock and pop releases. Don't even get me started on rap.... I don't consider it music. I will admit that I'm an old foggy but come on, where are some talented new groups? I grew up with the Beatles, Who, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix etc. I sample a lot of new music and the recordings are terrible. The engineers should be fired for producing over compressed shrill garbage. The talent seems to be lost or doesn't exist. I have turned to some folk/country or blues music. It really is a sad state of affairs....Oh my god, I'm turning into my parents.

Agree, you ARE turning into your parents. Plenty of new music is great.
I suggest checking out "besteveralbums" and looking at the top rated albums of the last ten years...
Good stuff.

Just like most 80 year olds like to listen to Lawrence Welk, the current generation of new old farts likes the 1960s 1970s music best.
Relive thier youth i guess..LOL

One point is when it was new.. it was spread out over a lot of time. Looking back, one can gather a lot of hits.. Current time is long, it goes by slow, one hit here one there, so it seems nothing is happening because we all want it NOW... and the past, well it is all rolled up into just yesterday..

Good luck you old fogies.

(I personally am so fed up with top 40 oldies radio i could puke.)
