WTH is That Sound???

Streaming Pandora & listening to Stevie Wonders You Haven't Done Nothing from the FFF disc...There is an instrument of some kind recorded wayyy outside the right channel,far down in the mix that sounds like someone dragging a stick across an old fashioned wash board but I can't be sure..Anyone ever notice it & now for sure what it is?
