Jazz for aficionados

Jazz for aficionados

I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.

Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.

The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".

"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.

While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.

Enjoy the music.

***** I'm so glad you didn't come up with any of the answers I expected you to come up with.*****

I did come up with those answers, I just didn't post them.   We all know the truth about everything,  some of us just can't face the truth.

Damn, I sound like Jack.

Btw, black folks are probably the most racist group in this country.   I mean this in the sense that, most of them see EVERYTHING through the prism of race.  It blinds them to so much.

Also, there are several instances of uneducated and poor working class people, rising to ultimate power in several countries.  Some examples:

Soviet Russia -- 20-30 million dead
Communist China --  untold millions dead
Nazi Germany -- responsible for approx 50 million dead
North Korea -- what can one say
Khmer Rouge in Cambodia -- they committed genocide against their own people.   Killed anyone that wore eyeglasses.  Thought that made them an intellectual.

Thank God for the Elites.

Cheers
Duke Ellington(Paul Gonsalves)-Crescendo+Diminuendo In Blue

Great, but nothing tops the live performance at New Port.

Cheers

Rok, you're 100% correct, looking at everything through the prism of race is total stupidity.

If you look through the prism of economic class, you will see the light, and that's what Fox TV forbids. Then, if you're a working class stiff, you will see Fox TV is not your friend.

Oh.....why not?

As I get older and as I watch what is happening in the politics landscape at this very moment, what becomes more and more obvious is how easily many of us can turn a blind eye to dishonesty and corruption by "our side" as long as it serves to delegitimize "the other side".  The idea that communism can be seen as a false "boogieman" is a perfect example.  It was and is the worst boogieman of all.  If only for this reason, when one considers the two pathetic choices that are being offered the American people at this moment in political history  the best choice, as usual,  is that which will keep us as far away from that ideology as possible and not move us toward it.  The truth is that Fox News is no more biased toward "the right" than most others news outlets are biased toward "the left"; and probably a lot less.  As much as Rok and I have disagreed about many things, I find his recent comments to be spot on.
Diminishing middle class? Yes, since 1971, the middle class has lost 11%, per a PEW report.

7% moved into the upper class and 4% moved into the lower class.

The Fed has been pumping money into the economy, while interest rates are near 0%.  People who know how to make money are making a killing, as they hand out money, and the middle and lower class are handing all their disposable income to the upper class, instead of investing, and we wonder why there is income disparity. Very oversimplified, I know.
