Mundorf (non-oil) Silver / Gold EVO MCap Supreme coupling caps in your tube amp ???

Anyone have good luck with these caps in your tube amp?

>> Mundorf (non-oil) MCap Supreme EVO Silver/Gold coupling capacitors << .22uf / 1000VDC

Previously tried Clarity MR caps and Jensen Copper Oil caps in my prior (same brand) tube amp with decent success. The Jensen oils were nice and a bit more syrupy sounding than my former Clarity caps, were too harsh for me. Looking for something in between. Normally I almost always prefer oil caps; maybe not this time. We will see. For my newer tube amp, a few folks who modify/upgrade Cary tube amps recommended installing these Mundorf (non-oil) Silver Gold Supreme EVO caps - reportedly for a bit more "open and extended air, ,with more bass, and still retaining a nice lush sound" as compared to my former Jensen oil caps. I did listen to my exact same tube amp with similar tube compliment with high-end V-Caps and it was a bit too lean for my taste. I’m hoping these new EVO caps sit somewhere in between and still retain a nice smooth sound.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

decooney,

To answer your question the best that I can, always remember audio is highly subjective and everyone hears things differently.

Using Vcaps in amps and crossovers always gave me a lean and more neutral midrange and I prefer just the opposite. Also in direct comparison in my Yamamoto amp between vcaps and mundorf evo's I found also the evo's to have a better sounding top end meaning more natural and forgiving to worst sounding recordings.
I found the bass to be quite equal with either cap and I can't say there was any overall detail missing anywhere with the Evo.

Dueland makes a small .01 uf bypass cap which I would like to try sometime may make a nice difference in some crossovers in my newest speakers and or amps.

If anybody has tried these I would like to hear about it.

Kenny.

UPDATE:
Doing more research and getting updates about these particular Mundorf Supreme Oil vs S/G non-oil caps, found this. Heat is definitely an issue with my tube amp with 12 output tubes and 4 pre-driver tubes. Runs hotter. This was on the Dynacotubeaudio forum from a few years back. A member in Germany worked directly with Mundorf on this inquiry. I’m sticking with the non-oil Mundorf EVO Silver Gold cap order. Similar to SIO caps. Still running copper oil caps in my tube preamp though.

re: Tube Amps, quote -
"As far as the SIO caps are concerned the max recommended ambient temparature is 70C degrees celsius. That does not mean they immediately die if it gets hotter. They used to be higher (85), but were reduced as they leaked oil in some rare cases, especially tube amps (the viscosity of the oil changes with heat). They never were rated at only 50C degrees.

The Silver / Gold ones are ok up to 85C degrees ambient temperature.", unquote.
Receive the Silver/Gold (non-oil) caps. They are smaller than I expected. Gold wires coming out.  Waiting for my tech to do install in a few weeks.
Update on Consonance M800SE Monoblocks with ClarityCap MR's.
I have close to 100 hours on the ClarityCap's. I find them dead neutral. They don't add or subtract from the source material. I have updated the power supplies to schottky diodes, kiwame resistors & double the capacitance on the - bias. Also changed resistors to Mills 5 watt for the screen grids & cathode bias. Added diodes to screen grids. These mods made huge difference in detail, soundstage & clarity. Its like a veil has been lifted. Next I am going to try expensive Audio Note Tantalum resistors for the grid of the output tubes. These will replace Russian MLT 5% resistors. I hope they will be worth it.
That is exciting stuff hifijunky! I haven't tries the audio note resistors but really like the kiwame's. Please keep us updated on how it sounds.
