I have experienced resonance distortion with Dynavector cartridges. I've had a DV-20XL and a Karat 17D3, both installed on a Pro-Ject 9 (aluminum) tonearm and a SME 309 tonearm, and with certain LPs with high energy vocals they seemed to have trouble getting through them unless the setup was just about perfect. On the other hand, I'm currently using two Audio-Technica cartridges (33PTG and ART9) and they are both tracking champions; they sail right through the sections that the Dynavector cartridges would sometimes struggle with.
The main difference is that the two AT cartridges have a more compliant suspension than the two Dynavector cartridges, which I think contributes to better tracking ability. Now, I acknowledge that it's the overall compatibility of the tonearm and cartridge that makes or breaks the matchup, but it's nice to be able to install a cartridge and just know it's going to perform the way you hoped it would.

Tom
