Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!

Looks like Stereophile may be cutting back on expenses, no more bench testing for measurements and specs to keep the manufacturers and reviewers honest, it'll make you think twice on what to believe now, without the proof to back it up.

I always preferred Stereophile over TAS because of JA's measurements! I will miss this part of the magazine!
Yeah TAS was for audiophiles who like airy fairy poetic licence to describe the sound and nothing else. I like reviewers that have a pair.

TAS "reviewers", with their "chocolate", "caramel" colorations, and "yin/yang" & astrological references. Too "new age" for me. Subjective taken too far.
In the latest issue of Stereophile, there are bench tests for many of the equipment that are being reviewed.  The Parasound Halo was reviewed  by Kal Rubinson in the "Music in the Round" section and there were never measurements done on equipment reviewed in that section.  The Mark Levinson am was reviewed in the "Follow Up Section" at the end of the magazine.
georgehifi ......no more bench testing for measurements and specs to keep the manufacturers and reviewers honest........

At least there are still blind tests to keep consumers honest. 😄

Not true!  A very misleading thread title and a false conclusion.  The ML is a follow up to a full review with measurements.  It addresses whether the stereo version is as good as the mono.  As pointed out above, the Parasound write-up is in a section that has never provided measurements.
