VAC Sigma Preamplifier Front Meter / Thoughts / MC Cartridge

So I did a search of Audiogon to find info on my Preamp because usually I post something and people say this has come up before search it .. So I did and there is nothing on my Preamp the  VAC Sigma Preamplifier.
My question is what is the meter on the front panel for ?
I have the manual and it doesn't mention it at all it is just there . Whats it for ?
I bought the Preamp used from ebay local to me seller great guy explained a lot and was right Its a great sounding preamp. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this preamp it seems rare. Its a dead silent preamp with great sound a big improvement over my past Preamps the Rouge 66 Magnum ( What a Joke ) Conrad Johnson PV-10 (Good ) and the Conrad Johnson REF 3 (Great Preamp)
So was wondering if anyone has thought on this preamp ?
And lastly anyone with experience with it for a MC Cartridge recommendation I have a High Output denon MC cartridge 110 I think it is and it sounds great but looking more for a low output MC being it is set up for either a MM or MC. I find that with the Denon HO MC If I use the MM input I have to turn the Volume quite High like from 1/2 to 3/4 Vol If I switch it to MC on the preamp Its the opposite problem I barely turn the Vol up and its loud and seems to sound better with the MM input . So I was looking for a recommended Low Output MC Cartridge I would say in the 1000 Dollar range or less that works well with this preamp.
OK Thanks for any input

Don't run your Denon 110 into the mc input! It will overload that stage! Strictly use the mm input with any high-output mc cartridge! I like and use Denon low-output MC's - 103, 103R, 103D, 103S, 301, 304. All sound fine and are affordable!
The Hana MC's look interesting! The EL (elliptical stylus) $500 and the SL (Shibata stylus) $750 are both low-output. Might be worth checking out!
Thank for the input I was thinking about the Hana SL or the audio-technica at33sa

The VAC Phi Alpha and Phi Beta preamps were from a similar build timeframe for VAC and in their manuals it states the following:
“Meter: Indicate the operating voltages within the unit. This will vary somewhat due to fluctuations in power line voltage.”

Very nice unit. I have had three VAC preamps over the years and enjoyed each one. If you have issues or questions call VAC as they are excellent to talk with whether you bought their products new or second hand. The phono sections are very nice. Keep on the MM setting for anything above 1mV doesn’t matter if MM or HOMC. The MC setting has 60db of gain and should work well for 0.3mV to 1mV cartridge output.
