Stop Making Sense Revisited

Whoa, hadn't played SMS in a while, cd version. What a treat! Lit up my Proac's - punchy to say the least. Pull it out, but invite some friends over to enjoy the music. Definitely a system demo quality recording.

I picked up a new sealed Japanese pressing of that last year. Still haven’t listened to it...

I did something fun but nasty with it, as I bought it. Pure evil, in that almost humorous way. (depends on which side you are visiting)

I bought it at an audio show, as a participant in the show. I bought it just before the show opened. And I bought it within eyesight of the people lined up at the audio show, waiting to get in on the first day. waiting to get the first stab at the piles of records....that were just out of their reach.

I bought it from the stacks, and then waved it at them.

I thought about sticking my tongue out at them (nah nah!), but that might have been a bridge too far....

Ah, those dang first world problems..... (OTOH, I did pay thousands as a show participant....to be on that side of the fence for those few moments available to be ’first’ to look in the bins)

anyway, a great record in all ways. One of those gems.

Psycho killer also makes for a great ring tone. Phone rings.... and it says out loud for all to hear:

"Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est? Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho-ho, aye-yi-yi-yi-yi, ooh"
Saw David Byrne on tour a few months ago at the Apollo in London. The whole band was mobile / wireless. You wouldn’t have thought he could top Stop Making Sense but he pretty much did. Just as unique.
Never thought I’d hear those tunes live - it was a night to remember for sure. Been playing Talking Heads almost every week since :)
the original vinyl pressings of course...

Agreed, I saw him in Brooklyn at the Kings Theater last fall.  Amazing show!!  Really one of the best I have seen from him and I saw the Heads 6-7 times (including SMS) and him solo another 6-7 times.  I think he learned a lot from his interaction with Twyla Tharp for the movements of the band on the stage.
I have yet to hear one of his albums I haven't liked. His self titled album gets a lot of play at my house.
