Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

Congrats on finally getting your Cortese. Please do give us all a detailed report on what you are hearing after you get 200 hours or so on it.

Slipknot1,

I would have guessed the E180's in the front. The picture of the Cortese on Mick's website looks like the shortest tubes are in the front position which would be the E180's.

Tom,
Does the Cortese have a phono stage (I can't seem to keep all the models straight)? The Chenin has a phono stage using the 6922's, which are in the front most position. Confusing as both tube sets have a 9 pin configuration....
FWIW, on my Grange the E180F tubes are in front followed by the Cca (6922) and as Slipknot points out the tubes get taller going towards the back. Perhaps yours is configured differently. Good luck.
