My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
a couple of unsolicited thoughts from a 40+ year audio veteran.1. never forget that when a new item is installed into a system the listener is hyper focused almost insuring that differences will be heard. my experience is that no judgement can be ...

ditto to previous post.
Gryphon vs Swiss solid state amps and preamps. And integrateds.
Dartzeel is a great one to compare to.

just wondering, given your ability to locate great deals on great equipment, what about Agostino?Tough or not so much? Thanks for your thoughts.
Whats the FATTEST sounding Tube amp to warm up Lean speakers?
just had a thought. a used accuphase integrated amp would give you tone controls almost guaranteed to be centered at 100hz(bass control)which is ideal for midbass enhancement. overall going to sound great as well.
Whats the FATTEST sounding Tube amp to warm up Lean speakers?
may not suit you but the price of ARC ref75’s on audiogon have to be one of the best deals i’ve seen. a truly great tube amp with plenty of mojo.i’m no ARC fanboy but bought one to try out and very impressed and i’ve had some great amps. btw movin...
Whats the FATTEST sounding Tube amp to warm up Lean speakers?
just an opinion but i’d personally move into a more neutral loudspeaker opening up countless electronic choices. i don’t think trying to fatten up a 6.5” driver is a great idea but we’re all different. fwiw

Another comment or two from a guy that has done some of what wc is doing. switching out gear without establishing constants. The correct way in my humble opinion is to find  a base point. In this case I would suggest to only use the Agostino integ...

Not part of the thread but have to chime in. IMO if the Agostino integrated doesn’t sound great and drive the speakers well then the speakers have issues. I don’t think anyone disputes that Agostino amps play in the top 10% of all SS amps. The aud...
What amps should I audition?
if your speakers are fine w a stout 75w amp I think you’ll be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t at least consider one of the ARC Ref 75’s always available here for about 50% off. A truly great tube amp with plenty of drive for a reasonably ...

Ok guys I don’t want to be a grinch but so be it.This “beats” it verbiage bugs me. It’s not a boxing match but rather determining what sounds best to the listener. I don’t think any SS amp will “beat” the Agostino but something else might sound be...
My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
For what it’s worth my D’Agostino S250 driving Wilson Yvette’s has the slightest of meter movement when playing at a reasonable level. This seems to indicate as I’ve always believed that we need far less watts than we think. I have a pretty large ...
Revel F228BE
when you see the quality of the materials and workmanship of revel you should understand that because of economies of scale and us labor costs they could not be made in usa at their very aggressive prices. i’m not sure that anything can compete at...
best preamps
Incomplete without mentioning Luxman C-900u. In addition the ML 523 is superlative. The designers of these two units spared no expense in these two awesome units and sonically it shows. Anyone would find happiness here.
