Mass and vibration cancelling on top of CD player?
I used to use bricks (6 to be precise) on top of the CD player. It just looks ugly, though. As an alternative, I took the player apart and used a vibration-damping adhesive popular in the car-audio industry: Dynamat. You simply apply it anywhere i...
Anyone going to the NY Audio show today to Sunday
Yeah: agreed, Adam. Those rooms are so expensive -- especially the larger ones. A lot of work in five days just to make sure your name stays on people's radar.
Power Conditioners.
A number of questions to ask:1. How much am I willing to spend? (Something to re-evauluate several times over this process.)2. Is my budget determined by X% of the total cost of my current system, or, X% of the total cost of my imagined system 10 ...
Anyone going to the NY Audio show today to Sunday
Was my first time at an audio show. As you might expect, I experienced some great things while I was there. I experienced some radical version of "settling in" as the system adjusts and warms up. I also gained a deeper appreciation for the strengt...
How important is the transport when using a DAC?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned slaving, yet.
What made the biggest, most noticeable improvement
Hi, Douglas.I'm glad that, although I spoke directly, you didn't take offence to my questioning your ideas themselves, as I interpreted them. I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment, so I'm content not to post what would likely be a long response...

What kind of power cord comes with expensive gear
I second what the previous two members said, and add the following: The best power cord for audiophile purposes will be the best conductor of low frequencies and the best impediment to high frequencies, without restricting dynamics. Stock power ca...
What made the biggest, most noticeable improvement
In what began as a very modest hi-fi, I've upgraded or auditioned much more expensive amps, sources, speakers cables, interconnects, power cords, power conditioners, stands, and speakers. Obtaining a great DAC made the biggest difference.
Most achingly-beautiful music

Oppo 95 vs Cambridge Audio Azur 751
My local Hi-fi shop claims, in their servicing experience, the Cambridge models are more easily serviceable if anything goes wrong. Apparently they see more Oppo than Cambridge, but that might not indicate anything of note.
Christmas '12 Audio Upgrades?
Magico Q7's? That's quite a present.
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please
B_limo: You're welcome. It sounds like you found a solution you're really pleased with, without having to jump up your budget. That's great (and impressive).Happy listening!Aaron
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please
Hi, B_limo.$500 for 806v's is pretty nice, but I'm not sure I'd bite. I'm prefer to arrive at a great solution in as few steps and little money spent as possible. I wouldn't want to make an impulse buy of bookshelf speakers, especially when I know...
