Your favorite J.S. Bach
St. Matthew Passion, Gardiner is my long standing favourite, nowadays, however, I listen more the St. Johannes Passion, Harnancourt.
Tube or solid state amp or amps?
So many unknown variables around, but I think, at the end it is very important what type of music you typically listen. If modern rock, pop, blues - electronic music - than solid state perhaps a good option, if classical music: tubes are somewhat ...
CD Players – life of laser
My levinson 39 laser died after 5 years of fairly intensive use. According to the local service, this is not a unusual thing. Of course, there are may audiophile user, who plays music once a week a few hours. For them, laser-life could be 10 plus ...
MY BEST DEAL
My 1st best deal was to buy a second hand wilson benesch act one for abour 3000 usd. The second was to change the ML 331 poweramp to an Aronov tube integrated. Not only I got better sound at cheap, but allowed to sell all my fancy cords and cables...

Mark Levinson No.383 matches Proac Res.2.5?
Proac is very fine musical, and warm speaker. ML is a rather cold gear. I would not mix the two. They work against each other. Of course, it may good, but once you replace the ML with a NAIM, EAR or any fairly good tube amplifier you would likel z...
Which integrated: Nait 5i, Panache or Shanling?
I like the Naim Nait 5, it is a very good amplifier. However, I dont have the slightest idea how it would work with your speakers. None the less, as much I heard BW, I dont think that is an ideal speaker for classical. I would also look for a proa...
Your favorite classical composers/works?

Phono amp recommendations
Ear 834p has a very nice, naturally sounding soundprint.
Most achingly-beautiful music
I have just heard the V. Symphony of Shostakovitch, played by the Budapest Festival Orchestra, conducted by Pinchas Steinbert. Oh what a tragically painful music on dictatorship and terror and pain felt by people. Unfortunately, the CD version I h...
persoanlity and speaker preference
The funny thing, that I also think that there is a linkage between one's personality and the characteristics of the soundprint of his or her system. Warm friendly people typically like warm, inviting, smooth, rounded sound - and their system do so...
cables recommendation
Alpha Goertz veracity MI2 a wonderful cable, cheap, and offers enough for most systems.
Your favorite classical composers/works?
Classical music has been always the music of the elite, be political, economic or cultural. Once, in the renessaince and barokk period, when the composed music became a genre own its own, was primarily the music for royal families and for their co...
