technics sl 1200 gae
The man to talk to in the US is Kevin at KAB. He is a real authority on Technics turntables.  I haven't spoken to him in awhile but my guess is that he will suggest a rewire of the arm and the fluid damper.  I think you will find him straightforwa...
Can you run the HANA SL MC at 100 ohms?
"The kit could use a few more values above 200, up to at least 1K, though. Right now it’s pretty much focused on low-output MC’s with less that 15 ohms coils. And that 10 ohms (or even 20 ohms), I can’t imagine ever using."If you contact dB dir...
Can you run the HANA SL MC at 100 ohms?
I have a Hana EL which is basically the same thing specwise.I bought this from dB Systems: https://store.acousticsounds.com/d/60044/DB_Systems-DB_Systems_DBP-6_MC_Phono_Resistor_Loading_Kit-T...They will provide it with any value you want.  I got ...
Phono cable advice.
I took Chakster's advice and got some Zu Mission phono cables off the Ebay auction for $40.00 for my Technics table.  I doubt there is a better deal for phono cables anywhere.  At some point I would like to upgrade them but for now they are fine.
Tecnics 1200G platter cleaning
"One man's dirt is another man's patina."I would just wipe off any dust and let the brass age gracefully.
VPI prime scout VS Music Hall 9.3 VS Technics SL-1200GR VS Rega Planar 6
I would go with the Technics.  Don't buy the VPI until you have both heard and handled it.  Unipivots are not for everyone.
Cartridge for Technics SL-1200G or SL-1200GR
@oldschool1948  I think you have made a good decision.  I am very happy with my 1200G.  I did hear improvements with a different mat and IC.I use a Hana EL along with a Denon 103.
Best used integrated for under $5000
Luxman may have what you are looking for.Accuphase is nice too but very overpriced if you are in the US.
Luxman Integrated?
I use a Luxman 507ux and have been very happy with it.  Source is mostly a Technics 1200G and the phono stage is very good.  Would love to have a Luxman EQ 500 phono pre though!
LOOKING TO MAKE A TURNTABLE CHANGE, HOPEFULLY AN IMPROVEMENT
@stereo5 I believe wcfeil is William Feil,  the same person who once posted under the name "audiofeil".  He is back after a long absence. Some of his posts in the past have been abrasive though I have been told he is actually a nice enough person i...
TNT Hot Rod vs SL-1200G
Between the two tables, I would go with the Technics.I recently bought a Technics 1200G and am very happy with it.  See if you can find one to demo, preferably with a few hundred hours on it.  They do have a break in period!
SL1200GAE New Tonearm
@johnnyb53  Where did you hear that the arm is "aluminum with a magnesium coated finish"?  Everything I have seen says it is magnesium, including the Technics website.
Pioneer PLX 1000 ancestry
@helomech:  I don't know of any evidence that Technics sold off the original tooling for the Technics 1200.  According to Technics, one of the reasons they discontinued its manufacture was that the tooling was worn out.  Since they made millions o...
Can someone explain to me why : Accupahse Equipment is that expensive ?
I don't get all you guys bending over backward to excuse what is clearly an exorbitant markup. There is no other excuse other than greed that I can see.
