Home Theater Receiver recommendations for B&W 803S?
The thing about HT processors is that they lose their value really fast. The 8802A is selling "used" between $1500 and $1800 nowadays. About 6 or 8 months ago it was at the $2000-2200 range.
Another fine mess…
You're actually better off running straight digital COAX from your cable box and oppo bluray to the Theta Casablanca III.  The "HDMI to optical" will do the same thing, except at much lower performance.  Audio through HDMI is already compromised a...
Toslink, Coax, AES/EBU, USB 2.0 audio, HDMI??
The toslink glass fiber may have been stated to be better than toslink/coax, however toslink is still a compromised transfer mechanism.  If anybody has googled around, the engineer from Lampizator did some scope tests and showed that the square wa...
Amps that bring liveliness to low efficiency speakers?
It might help if you tell us what speakers and gear that you have.  The lack of liveliness could be due to a very warm sounding preamp/source and/or speakers rather than being inefficient.  But more watts on an inefficient speaker is always good. ...
Which Budget HT Bypass Option?
I will second the recommendation on the PS Audio Steller Gain DAC/preamp.  It is going to be a superior sounding preamp to all of your other choices, and it does include a very excellent DAC - better than the TEAC UD-301.  If you can swing the cos...
Home Theater Receiver recommendations for B&W 803S?
That's really awsome!  It's amazing on how good a particular set of speakers will sound if you match a really good high current amp!  You are now getting into the "really good stuff" area!---" The distinction between individual instruments is stri...
What’s in a watt
Oh crud, I missed the fact that the Lyngdorf 170 watts is at 4 ohms.  This is a lot less than the Anthem, which is rated 400 watts at 4 ohms.   The Anthem will definitely be able to handle the impedance drops of your Focal speaker much better, but...
Looking for an amp....Opinions about Odyssey or Bel Canto audio anyone?
Regarding the ground loop hum, their Candella preamp does have a slight ground loop hum.  My friend has extremely high efficient speakers (we are talking 99db efficient) and you can definitely hear the ground loop hum interaction between Candella ...
Looking for an amp....Opinions about Odyssey or Bel Canto audio anyone?
Odyssey is a rather "underdog" type of company and they do not do all the "measurements and specs" that major companies do.  I have looked at the Odessey equipment and overall architecture.  It is very good and uses high quality internal component...
What’s in a watt
That is awsome that you’re getting an in-home demo of the Lyngdorf! Let us know what you think when you hear it!   Regarding the Anthem, the difference between 170 watts and 200 watts is not anything that you would be able to tell the difference o...
New or Old?
The old Krell Theater Amplifier Standard (TAS) was an awsome amp, but at this point it is 15-17 years old and I would not spend money on that unless you planned on re-capping the amplifier. The Krell devices from this era are starting to frequentl...

@hybrid81 - It seems like you are really focused on the features of an "all-in-one" solution.  One thing I would like to caution (again) is to pay more attention to component matching.  The Anthem STR integrated is a very good piece, but it is goi...

First, if you have concerns about your 105, I would call Oppo and see.  Even though they are not making new devices, they will still support in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs.--As far as NAIM goes, it sounds like a "naim fanboy" was making t...
Purchase a receiver or what? need your advice.
Oh, just re-read your post.  It sounds like your buddy only has two CA-M600 amps.  There's actually a guy on audiogon selling a pair of black CT-M600 for $7580.  Unfortunately, I would really need three amps, and it will be much harder to find a s...
Purchase a receiver or what? need your advice.
Well, if I can't get my Parasound amps to a level where I'm satisfied, your buddie's three CA-M600 amplifiers are definitely an option, especially if he's willing to sell for $7-8k.  I should know within a couple weeks if these Parasound will work...
