What are the best entry level integrated amps and speakers?
I've gone the NAD / PSB route and while not bad and often great, the latest line of Yamaha or Marantz amplifiers sound better / smoother and ELAC or Paradigm speakers are preferred over PSB.

Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
gentlemen,"balls" in this case means gusto, drive, dynamics and power.  these are definitely qualites that can be associated with phono preamps.  having owned many that were somewhat weak or anemic sounding I wanted to put a list together of some ...
Technics SL-1200G Mat Recommendations
Just installed a herbies excellent mat 4mm, 285mm diameter.  fits within the lip of the platter.  raises the height 1mm (4mm thick) which is good for shorter cartridges.  so far it sounds much better than the achromat, bull mat and stock mat. i wi...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
The things that jump out to me are that it makes voices and instruments sound better than they really are- it sweetens them up a bit.  Also that this effect works for all types of music styles- rock, jazz, instrumentals, etc.  Finally it is just s...
Best cartridge under $1500.
bump it up a little and go for the ortofon cadenza blue.  bold dynamics, a real punchy rocker that sounds great on all genres. shreds the 2m black and sounds better than the art9.
opinions about leaving Audio Technia ART-9 MC for a Ortofon Cadenza bronze mc ?
i have an art9 and recently added a cadenza blue.  the blue sounds better, warm and smooth but more midrange clarity than the 9, also much more dynamic. i compare them regularily because i still have the 9. if the bronze is warmer than the blue i ...
Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
@ronh10    Thanks for the suggestion but I literally do not have time to build the kit, although the idea of an MM only tube stage feeding a SUT is appealing.  Any experience with the Decware ZEN ZP3 or the Icon Audio PS2?

thanks to all replies. my current setup is technics sl1200 GR, ortofon cadenza blue and lehmann black cube seII.  When I set the BC for 66 db gain the sound does become more robust with the Cadenza's .5mv output, but it does occasionally sound ove...

Cartridge for stock Technics 1200G tonearm
I have a GR and am running the Ortofon Cadenza Blue which is very dynamic and has an open, more forward midrange that I like.  I did try my ART9 too and it sounds fantastic and some ways better that the Ortofon but is still a little bass heavy, sl...
Cartridge for stock Technics 1200G tonearm
what is the issue with a low compliance cartridge- as long as the resonant frequency is ~ 10Hz?  I'm using an Ortofon Cadenza blue on the GR, compliance is 12 um / mn and the calculated resonant frequency is 9.6Hz.  so far it tracks and sounds gre...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
just bought a new technics table and the removable headshell lets me compare carts relatively quickly.  running a new ortofon cadenza blue which will not be unseated by the ART9 but the ART9 does sound great and right there with the cadenza.  The ...
Technics 1200GR Owners
Have had the GR for over three weeks and it is my final turntable.  Could have sprung for the G but was completely satisfied with the GR in a demo.  Absolutely loving the speed accuracy and stability that adds an easily distinguishable energy and ...
